also in fairness there is nothing they themselves can do about it, heck now its a Public / Private mess, the DWP high ups, will say that its down to Monster to sort out the problem.

Also be realistic, the staff know the website is a joke, BUT can not publicly be seen to express that opinion about the Job Centres own website.

there you go, she is already working against company policy.

This kind of thing, is why I dont allow JCP to view my account, applied for jobs off website wherever possible, and still fill in the grey book, for sign ons.

I am now having a real problem finding genuine jobs on Universal Jobmatch. It's so bad I can barely find real jobs in the abundance of jobs that I suspect are just there to get personal information for agencies trying to get people on their databases.

It seems like no matter what I search for, I am getting hundreds of 'CV Library' results starting today. If it's not CV Library, it's other websites like them like Monster Worldwide or 'Agency Central Limited', but CV Library seem to have posted the most. Many of these adverts seem to be jobs that have expired, or they look like they are copies of adverts posted by agencies who are harvesting CVs for their databases.

I used to be able to trust DirectGov as the jobs posted there were almost always genuine.

It looks like websites such as CV Library have offloaded their entire database of jobs onto Universal Jobmatch, and the fact many are broken possibly mean that Universal Jobmatch may not be doing any monitoring of the validity of these jobs.

They almost have rendered Universal Jobmatch useless by asking people to sift through hundreds of pages of questionable jobs, just to find ones that have been posted by REAL employers.

It makes me wonder if the reason they're allowing Universal Jobmatch to be spammed like this is to make it look as though there are 'millions of jobs' available in the UK when there actually are almost none.

Someone ought to contact Panorama, this is the sort of thing they ought to be asking questions in high places about.

After performing a dummy search for all jobs in my area, the results largely comprise of roles such as care worker, teaching assistant and LGV driver. Where are all the warehouse jobs, supermarkets, coffee shops, cinemas, Royal Mail, courier companies, council services, ie. the jobs that your average job centre client will be looking for. Some results are quite ambiguous: four of them have put 'Confidential' where their companies' names should be. A lot of the job summaries are missing a reference code.

On the whole it's a bit shit.

Glyn -- that is the one of the wisest things I have ever heard. Panorama definitely need to investigate these vast amounts of fake jobs on all the job sites -- but most definitely Universal Jobmatch as it is supposed to be trustworthy and I expect represents the figures on how many jobs are available in the UK.

At this time of year jobs in, for example, supermarkets area bit sparce. Most of them have actually stopped advertising at the jobcentre and only advertise on their own websites like Marks and Spencer and Asda/Tesco. I saw a Debenhams one on there yesterday.

I did a search for jobs at Asda and Marks and Spencer in the whole of England and there was less than 30, bad time of year for retail, which is why I am struggling to find a job. hopefully it will pick up in March, but this universal Jobmatch spam crap doesn't help..

The only results for new jobs today in my area are:

06/02/2013 Hardware Engineer / Hardware Design Engi -CV Library (Job Warehouse Only) NW-Blackburn
06/02/2013 -Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer CV Library (Job Warehouse Only) NW-Blackburn
06/02/2013 Supplier Assurance Quality Engineer CV Library (Job Warehouse Only) NW-Blackburn
06/02/2013 Band 6 Community Mental Health Practitio CV Library (Job Warehouse Only) NW-Blackburn
06/02/2013 Vehicle Sales Executive Franchised Moto CV Library (Job Warehouse Only) NW-Blackburn
06/02/2013 Service Administrator CV Library (Job Warehouse Only) NW-Blackburn
06/02/2013 Facilities Manager CV Library (Job Warehouse Only) NW-Blackburn
06/02/2013 Maintenance Estimator CV Library (Job Warehouse Only) NW-Blackburn
06/02/2013 Scheduling Administrator CV Library (Job Warehouse Only) NW-Blackburn
06/02/2013 Structures Engineer - Aerospace - Stress Technojobs Job Warehouse Only NW-NW
06/02/2013 Quality Systems Engineer / Management Sy Technojobs Job Warehouse Only NW-NW

06/02/2013 Safety Engineer - Human Factors / Errors Technojobs Job Warehouse Only NW-NW
06/02/2013 IT Helpdesk - Urgent - Windows / Server Technojobs Job Warehouse Only NW-NW
06/02/2013 Test Engineer - Electronic Assemblies Technojobs Job Warehouse Only NW-NW

I clicked the only customer service job on there which I have experience for and it was a fake 15-20k sales job promising 35k per year OTE and it was based in London, not even Blackburn, fake crap. This just makes my search for jobs a LOT harder, I'm due to sign on at 2pm today and I will be giving more feedback about this lame website

Today's been particularly bad for me too.

I bet that if you actually follow any of those 'jobs' you've listed, there will be a link on the bottom of the advert to the poster's homepage, and if you follow that you'll find that they most (if not all) have been posted by agencies. Try following one! I know I keep saying it but I can't see why it isn't widespread knowledge that there's an epidemic occurring, and why it hasn't made it onto TV yet.

I spend hours each day sifting through all this rubbish now. It's intolerable. I can't find jobs I need to find.

You can sometimes catch these agencies out by Googling for some of the unique content in the middle -- you find they are copies of jobs posted as long as 6 months ago by someone else and are almost certainly long gone!!

In the real world, this massive ratio of employers do not choose to use agencies. Yet these are all the results I'm getting. It's spam gone crazy. The only place I can rely on now is in the newspapers, because even though there are very few jobs listed, I can guarantee the jobs posted in newspapers will likely all be real. Isn't it funny that no agencies post in the papers too -- maybe it's because it costs too much and they can't automatically post billions of jobs every day. I can't filter out the mass CV Library/Monster/Company Confidential/Agency Central reposts from 'jobs' on the Universal Jobmatch site, so I can't see the jobs posted by real employers directly to the Job Centre!!

I'm not slating agencies as a whole, but there is certainly an epidemic of fake jobs about. There are still a few good agencies left that don't do this, but I can't find them (or the real jobs) due to the spamming!

I'm off to the Job Centre soon and will be putting in my complaints too. Something has to be done.

EDIT: I see you're looking for IT jobs. These are the worst for spam. Other jobs (e.g. Plumbing) also get the spam, but not quite as badly as IT.

EDIT 2: I thought I would add that it is down to Universal Jobmatch to allow people with the ability to filter out these reposts of jobs from 'Job Warehouse' adverts, or stop these websites from reposting completely as they can't validate the jobs are real. ANY excuse like 'we cannot fix the problem' is rubbish. They can easily fix it. It is up to them to manage their site properly.

I thought I'd post something interesting that I found a while ago for you all to see before it gets removed. I'm not saying this is an example of the problem we're seeing with Universal Jobmatch -- I'll let you judge for yourself the validity of either.

The job here, posted on 20th April 2012:
http://www.edugeek.net/forums/educat...ng-surrey.html

Is almost word-for-word identical to the job posted here almost 7 months later:
http://www.reed.co.uk/jobs/it-suppor...ician/22282438

Note that the two jobs are practically identical (note the end especially), yet the second one has been posted by an agency and contains content from elsewhere. Interestingly at the bottom of the later-posted ad, the "NO AGENCIES PLEASE" has been removed. Although it's not impossible, I find it difficult to believe that the school posting the advert would suddenly want to use agencies 7 months after having a strong policy of not doing so.

You can sometimes find this by simply Googling a unique portion of the content in an advert.

Yet again today, Universal Jobmatch is giving me hundreds of results from the same old places. I want to see jobs directly posted by employers!!

I did a search for all jobs within 10 miles of manchester and it said 6991 was available but you can only view the first 1000 of them
I scrolled through all 40 pages and every one was the agency central warehouse ones.

i have asked jcp to ask for a filter to block viewing agency jobs as i only want to search for proper employer jobs but all i get is a standard reply that tells me how to search for jobs, which defeats the initial complaint i made.

for the type of job i am after agency jobs are no good to me as the first thing agencies want to know is do you have your own transport, if you do not have that then they not interested in you. so for my needs i need to look for real employers but agency jobs are pushing potential employer vacancies out of the way and making it impossible to apply for genuine jobs.

I have also asked jcp/dwp to add facility to upload your own customised cv that you can send to employers you apply to but they will not do that. they insist their online cv is perfect. no employer wants to look at a 4 page cv (thats what is sent if you complete the jcp one) an employer wants a one page well formated set out cv not a standardised american format one that monster uses.

it does let you upload your own CV. click on the "cv" link at the top of the page.

to be honest the amount of bull shit, some people put on CVs these days, I think some people (with a good track record) should limit their CV to 5 bullet points, and contact details.

I am so cross with the UJ site

The lady at the job centre yesterday 1) didn't know what Job Warehouse was 2) didn't know what company confidential meant

It's a bloody nightmare, I have clicked apply on several of the ads... Last night I had 6 phone calls, yes NIGHT last one at 9pm from an Indian guy I couldn't understand offering me jobs that weren't suitable. I turned my phone off in the end. The job I applied for obviously didn't exist. They also seem to pass your details onto other recruiters as I've had numerous calls today. I would almost say its harassment.

For those that remember ... I was offered a job but turned it down, hence back down the job centre. I worked out that by the time I paid child are and petrol costs for the commute I was worse off! There are plenty of health & social care jobs but I need to find the right one & one that actually exists!!! Have a couple more interviews lined up.

fair enough Job Warehouse is a mess, but "company confidential" is pretty basic, 99 times out of 100 its an agency.

In fairness Job Warehouse is seemingly a real thing, as ive seen adverts for it on telly, but im not sure where they are getting all these jobs from, and im not sure employers want you to "apply for thousands of jobs in one click" as the website suggests you can.

There is something very fishy about the Job Warehouse.

I just found this http://research.dwp.gov.uk/asd/asd5/...06/rrep393.pdf it is from 2006 but there is a whole section about job warehouse. It is not very clear but it seems that it was a different way of putting jobs on. i have a feeling that it might have been the bit on the old system where you said look at jobs from other sources.

I have read it, and it seems no more clear now, than it was before, and certainly does not answer where these jobs are apparently coming from.

'Job Warehouse' (at the moment), means the job is an automated copy of a job ad from another Jobs site. The problem is these 'other sites' are clearly not kept under control and are overloaded with agencies posting jobs to get people on their records.

Many agencies do this so that when a real job comes up in the real world they can automatically match and offer people on their whopping 'client database' to an employer. Not all do it, obviously.

If an agency following this practice manages to get just one person into a job, it doesn't matter (to them) if they annoy thousands in the process. That's why the 'job' posts are in abundance.

It's very similar to e-mail spam, except with no spam filter.

I know many people have an issue with the job centre job finding website, but for me I find it's working and it's so much easier to use and apply for jobs.

Anyhow the last 4-6 days the whole of London area jobs have been 98% spammed by a company called Agency Central Limited (Job Warehouse), with over 40 pages of jobs only around two pages exist with 'normal' type jobs.

I'm not sure if other areas across the UK have been effected by 'Agency Central Limited', but it has ruined the website. I'm now unable to see any other jobs because this scum organisation. Job centre website only allows 40 pages of the newest jobs to be viewed so therefore all employers and been pushed away and replaced by this agency.

I'm also noticing another agency called Monster Worldwide have started spamming now.

I'm getting really sick of this.
This is what happens when you outsource to s/p/cammers.

Monster are a recruitment agency themselves.

I've given up on the Universal Jobmatch website now.

Last time I went on there were 29 pages of spam from Job Warehouse before I got to the "real" jobs - of which there were about 10.

That was the last straw for me.

it does let you upload your own CV. click on the "cv" link at the top of the page.
yes you can upload a cv but it rips all the information out of it into their style of cv which in turn is a standard monster.com format.
if you click view cv after this it will look nothing like the cv that you uploaded.

plus it only allows you to upload in .doc format, but also if your cv is in pdf your screwed as you cannot upload it.
