Unless anyone knows different, I think that Rutland may be the only "traditional" county (by which I mean putting Unitary Authority areas within the counties they were originally part of) to contain no TV transmission sites (Rutland being covered by Waltham, not far away but in Leicestershire). Any offers?

I was going to suggest Cambridgeshire (including Peterborough) but looking into this the Stamford relay appears to be just within the Peterborough (ex-Cambridgeshire, ex-Huntingdonshire, ex-Northamptonshire) boundary, maybe by only a few feet, rather than in Lincolnshire.

Otherwise, since Channel 5 analogue from Madingley for the Cambridge area closed at DSO, Cambridgeshire (with Peterborough) is again served by out-of-county transmitters, Sandy Heath (Bedfordshire), plus Waltham (Leicestershire) and Belmont (Lincolnshire). Back in 405-line VHF days there was of course the BBC's Peterborough main station (on Morborne Hill, which is not many yards from Northamptonshire) and its Cambridge (Newmarket Road) relay.

Did the regional corrector in Prestytn make it through DSO seeing as Storeton carrys the Welsh services now? If not the traditional Flint looks like it might be another. The modern Fflintshire of course being home to Moel-y-Parc

West Lothian, the nearest transmitter being just outside the county at Black Hill in Lanarkshire; East Lothian would have fallen into this catgeory too had it not been for the Haddington relay which is fed from Black Hill.

For completeness neighbouring Midlothian has two relays at Newbattle and Penicuik while Edinburgh has one relay at Canongate, all fed from Craigkelly.

Is Angus the only transmitter named after a county? I guess they didn't like Balcalk Hill It's sometimes referred to as Craigowl or Tealing, I think.

Although it may be brought back into use for the Cambridge local television channel.
