Prequel to AOTD shows Amy returing home alone after Rory left or as he later put was kicked out the house.
Amy sadly stands alone in the kitchen and says "We need you raggedy man,I need you". Yet when he does shows up she insists he can't "fix" the marriage and it is a "lost cause".
She said he was her best freind but she couldn't tell him why they had broken up ?. When she was pregnant for the first and only time she told him not Rory. Said she was worried about her child possibly being born with a "timehead". Relieved when she thought the pregnancy was just a mistake, a phantom. Implying she might have asked 11 to arrange or even perform a secret abortion. Amy finaly tell Rory the real reason she set him "free". Sobbing "I can't ever give you children". All Rory had to say to comfort her was "You allready did Melody our daughter is still alive". Sadly the day they were finally reunited with her was the same day the angels sent them to their deaths. RIp mr and mrs Williams.

In a traumatic time, you need your friends around - even if they can't fix the problem, they help you through it. Of course, in the context of Amy's personality, it's not the first time she's needed help but been too proud to ask for it.

Yes - she didn't want to worry Rory until she knew the answer. That's perfectly normal - maybe less so in these days of accurate over-the-counter kits, but it used to be common for wives to only break the news after seeing a doctor.

That's quite a stretch. I don't see that implication there at all.

Because in her head, their marriage had already failed. It's not like the pregnancy, where it was something that was ongoing, that the Doctor could fix - and even then, she might not have told the Doctor had the Silence not suggested it. She didn't confide in the Doctor because she didn't need to, any more. They'd signed the divorce papers. They were all but single, again. It was over.
