Looking quite Doc-Martin-ish, except for the smile of course. I'm sure that's a tie he's worn numerous times in the series. The suit a tad -- um, sharp? -- for DM?

We first read about MC's driving ban in November but don't know how much time had past when it was announced. I'm just trying to work out how far into filming DM will be before he can do some of his own driving in the show. I guess they can get away with doubles in some car scenes. The Lexus seems to be used in almost every ep.

Yes, that is for sure one of the two brown DM ties. One has little dashes on it and this one has circles and dots. DM has also worn that suit, or one just like it.

I've really come to the conclusion that they do a lot of filming out of order - grouping shots together to save time and interruptions. So I would guess they could push back any driving scenes for a month or so.

Speaking of that, didn't he do an awful lot of driving on camera in Heavy Horsepower? I wondered if he wanted to get in as much as he could if he knew the hammer was about to drop?

Isn't that the suit he wore for the publiicity stills for Series 5 ?

it's probably the difference in the lighting (the one in the photo is rather harsh, I think) but the suit looks somehow different. The dark a little darker? But, on the other hand, seems odd that he, or BP, would own two pinstripe suits.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the suit, but clicking on your links was interesting in that we went straight from DM in a restaurant scene with Louisa to DM in a restaurant scene with Edith. I was struck by the difference in his demeanor. With Louisa, his facial expression is softer, more vulnerable, less sure of himself. With Edith, he's all business.

The different pieces in the wardrobe can really look different depending on the lighting. I could especially see this when I have been looking at his ties. But the suits can really look different. Some of them don't show pinstripes until there is an outside shot in the sun. When looking at some closeups of the suit, it even looks like the stripe has a blue hue in the sunlight. And the picture of him giving out the award probably would have used a flash, which can really screw up the color.

I really think they are all the same suit

Another thing I noticed was that DM's shirts look solid blue on the dvd when played on my tv but when I play that same dvd on my portable Philips 9" dvd player, you can see that many of his shirts are finely striped, either evenly spaced apart or maybe two stripes close together and a third stripe away from the first two (does that make sense?). It seems the smaller the screen the more detail I can see. Also, many of his solid color ties look very expensive up close than further away.

I also thought the shirts were mostly solid color until I started doing the Wardrobe study. I am a couple episodes into S4 and have found 23 different shirts! The one he seems to wear the most is a light blue one (could be more than one shirt). There is also a light blue one that has barely visible blue stripes. He also sometimes wears a white shirt with white stripes - most notably in the scene in the ambulance. Sometimes I have to find a really good closeup in good lighting to make sure that ther are no subtle stripes in the blue or white shirts, and no guarantee that I have gotten them all correct. And due to the different lighting, some of these could be the same shirt.

Here is a breakdown so far (am I anal or what?)

Cream color - 1 time
Medium blue - 1
White with white ribbing - 1
Solid white - 8
Dark blue with a darker blue stripe - 2
White with a white stripe - 4
Medium blue - 1
White with brown and tan stripes - 1
Very light blue with white stripes - 1
White with burgundy & blue checks - 1
White with grey/blue stripes - 1
White with tiny grey/blue checks - 5
Light blue with blue stripes - 1
Dark grey or olive green - 2
Medium blue with white stripes - 3
White with faint grey stripes - 2
White with large grey/blue checks - 5
Dark blue/grey - 1
Light blue - 19
Dark blue - 5
White with blue stripes - 11
Light blue with light blue stripes - 7
White with different sized blue/grey stripes - 5

She auditioned in Truro and said she read 2 parts for the casting director. Filming begins in early April. That's all I know. I have no idea who the characters are, she hasn't said.

I just finished watching her middle two episodes and she is kind of playing a female DM in this series. When Banks tries to get her to loosen up a bit and be more sociable, it reminds me of DM trying to be nice to Holly. She just isn't very good at it
