In the past, I've got tough locking wheel nuts off by raising the wheel, removing all the other nuts and hitting the nut flush with a metal drift, wide enough to hit the full diameter of the nut. This can have the effect of 'loosening' the nut from it being seized rather than over tightened. Hitting the rim with a hammer (From behind with wood block to protect wheel) can also help, alternate from the opposite side from the nut first. With time, and this may take up to an hour (or a few minutes if lucky), the nut can be removed with an old socket hammered on, or the key if applicable.

Well, good luck with it anyway, my extreme method is probably best used by a professional anyway. |

I lost my key a few days ago. I called a mobile tyre fitter out as I had a puncture and he chizzled the old nuts off (£5 each) and then I bought a new set from Halfords. It only took him 45 minutes to do everything.

if you need to remove the wheel nut hammer a socket over the top of it that is a tight fit and then it will have enough grip to remove the wheel nut you will need a vice to hold the socket in so you can punch the wheel lock out to do the other nuts
