In my opinion The 4 nations/regions should get their own HD version of BBC Two

This point is no more valid than today we have snooker from BBC Wales which is in HD on Eurosport.

Currently BBC2 England/Scotland & NI are showing "Great British Food Revival"

At 3.30 BBC2 NI has "Waterworld"

The schedules for the regions are not in sync and the regional programming means the HD versions will not get shown once the switch to a UK version is done.

Basically the losers in the current scenario of future events are those in Scotland, Wales & NI. Whose regional shows that are filmed in HD will only really be available on the SD version of their BBC2

I wish there were a petition of some kind to sight to say we need & want the national variations of BBC Two to be bought to ALL 4 nations in HD.

Possibly BBC Two HD is more of a necessity to those in Scotland, Wales & NI than BBC One HD.

I believe a major step forward would be having BBC One & BBC Two in HD in Scotland, Wales & NI.

They would then have parity with STV & UTV and possibly ITV Wales (if launch rumours are true)

BBC Two national channels don't opt-out from the network often enough to justify the additional infrastructure / costs needed to provide HD feeds for each one. The usual local news, politics, rugby scores wouldn't even benefit greatly from being shown in HD.

Obviously, once in a while, something like the extra snooker coverage in Wales comes along. Although such events could benefit from being shown in HD, e.g. being able to see traces of chalk dust on the felt. ...these events are far too infrequent to justify separate HD opt-outs.

As does Northern Ireland, 2 hours a week of Rugby doesn't justify regionalised HD opt-outs, it is simply too expensive. Are these even filmed in HD?

The BBC plan to add an HD interactive channel in 2014 and it would make sense to show sports content, such as this, on that channel, as and when required. That would also make it available to the whole country.

That's the plan under DQF.

I think it would be good if some of the programmes currently only shown in the nations get a UK-wide airing on BBC Two in the future - it would reduce repeats of other stuff...

Indeed, there was a good reason for BBC2 regions originally, when there were only 2 channels and regional programmes could be shown on BBC2 when BBC1 was required for special events. With multiple channels available to cover these events, it should now be possible to cover any event without needing to transfer regional programmes to BBC2.

The BBC2 regions in England have already been abolished, it can only be a matter of time before the axe falls on the national opt-outs.

BBC 1 needs to be regional in order to cover the 'local' news programmes. It is wasteful of satellite space to also have BBC 2 HD (from April) with regional variations.

As you can imagine, hours of sport on BBC Wales brings great enjoyment to some as well as great annoyance to others. Anybody in Wales who is within range of English Freeview transmitters would be well advised to ensure that they can get these services as well as the Welsh channels. Those out of range would be best off with satellite.

The beauty for those in Wales with Freeview HD access is that from 26 March they can see the Welsh opt outs on BBC Two Wales (in SD) and the opt out free version of BBC Two on BBC Two HD.

That's because, there isn't a pro 12 team based in North Wales. In fact, there's no pro 12 team based north of the M4!!. RGC 1404, based at Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay, are currently being developed as a "region" and are currently plying their trade in Division 1 East. They have a 3 year plan to get into the Premiership, the division below pro 12. At the moment, things seem to be going to plan. RGC are currently second in the division and are beating their south walien rivals quite comfortably in most matches. The facilities at Eirias are also very good and RGC are attracting large crowds considering the level they are playing at.

The under 20 aren't a token presence, they played all their home matches at Eirias last year, where each match drew a capacity crowd, prompting the WRU to base the Under 20's at Eirias fro the next couple of seasons. This season the match against Ireland was a sell out again, and no doubt with England being the next visitors to Eirias, that'll match will be a sell out too!!!.

During the Autumn Internationals, Russia, USA, Samoa, Canada and Tonga all played test matches at Eirias.
