Hi all, looking at plusnet as an isp, is anyone with them and have you had any problems or are they worth their money.
Thanks Dave

They are shocking, really poor.

Indeed. Absolutely. So grim!

(Mwahahaha, more honest broadband from Yorkshire for me!)

OK, thanks, I thought I'd heard they were good, but thanks for that may steer clear.

They're fine!!!

I've used them for 3 years without an issue as have parents and other family members.

Like all ISP's, mobile phone companies or electric suppliers you'll find many unhappy customers giving bad reviews....unhappy customers seem to outweigh happy customer reviews considerably! - I imagine most happy customers don't bother to post reviews vs unhappy customers who do.

personally I suspect many broadband issues are down to home phone wiring as much as anything.

Plusnet, recommended.

I know my home phone lines ok, courtesy of orange, they called out openreach twice for me, once the cable from the pole to my house replaced and the second time no fault found and not charged.
Thanks for all the replies and your right Orbitalzone people do complain more than they praise, just have to take advice from those good enough to reply.

Very happy with Plusnet myself, and very much easier to talk to if you ever have a problem as they are UK based and you can understand every word they say on the phone - even allowing for the Yorkshire accent!

I only ever had one minor problem - sorted in minutes when I called at 5.30 a.m.

I've now got to wait for orange to get back to me and let me know if I'm still in contract, if I'm not then I guess it will be make my mind up time.
Thanks for all your replies.

I started out with madasafish, who have become plusnet and I've stayed with them for donkeys years because they are so good. Year on year they've given me excellent service and increasing discounts.

This is all in an area where there is very little if any competition due to the appalling rural infrastructure, so no incentive for firms to offer anything much - it's more of a count yourself lucky that there's any service at all.

The customer service people have always been polite and helpful, they have a forum for customers and daily support via twitter as well.

I'm another very happy Plusnet customer. Been with them for years. If you ask you get the latest discount rate. Only had to call them twice. Answered without too long a wait and sorted problems quickly.

Note that Plusnet has been part of BT since 2007 although it still operates as a separate business.

I must admit the BT bit did worry me a little, but as Plusnet are independent I guess it shouldn't make any difference.

I've been with Plusnet for eight or nine years. No problems whatsoever and always happy with the customer service.

Saying that, I'm currently in the process of jumping ship to TalkTalk, as they've recently become the first company to LLU the exchange. Double the speed for a third of the price takes precedence over common sense.

I've been with Plusnet for nine months and have had no problems. Broadband speed 30% higher than Talktalk gave me. The technicolor router they supplied had only had to be reset once in that time.

Presumably Plusnet piggybacks on the BT kit in the exchange rather than use its own LLU kit? Their availability checker shows I can get similar speed to what I already get from O2 LLU but Samknows not showing Plusnet LLU at my exchange.

(I will be jumping ship from O2 if the rumours about them selling out to Sky are true)

Hang on a minute there. Be wary TalkTalk do have a much worse reputation than Plusnet. BT Wholesale will be adding ADSL2 to your exchange very soon, they are doing 90% of exchanges. When the exchange is enabled you will be able to get the same speed from Plusnet as you can from TalkTalk.

There's no such thing as Plusnet LLU. Plusnet uses BT Wholesale

No time frame on my exchange, so it might be one of the 10% which won't be updated anytime soon. And after waiting years for an improvement over ADSL Max, even TalkTalk can look tempting.

I've dealt with most of the main ISP's customer support over the years and my conclusion is that all of them can be as shite as each other - with the exception of Plusnet. I've always been impressed when dealing with them, so it is with reluctance that I'm leaving.

Plusnet by far best isp i've had .... and probably the better division of BT to be with .... only fault I've had over a few years was quickly fixed & got a personal phonecall to check all was OK afterwards ... their customer service is excellent & most things can be fixed via their web forum so little/no need for long phone calls to techs!

im looking at moving from o2 to there unlimited deal
http://www.plus.net/home-broadband/broadband-only/

Fibre will only be available in my area summer this year.

Seems like a good deal, just the activation fee and router puts 1st payment up

Just to back up my own statement, I've just needed to contact Plusnet regarding a billing issue. On a Sunday afternoon, the phone was answered in under a minute by a polite English fellow who answered my question before I'd even finished asking it.
