Yes it does... please read to the end

Reported mutations in HESX1 and SOX2 in association with pituitary phenotypes

Establishing the genotype not only furthers our understanding of the aetiology of SOD but also aids patient management, enabling accurate genetic counseling and early diagnosis.

Currently genetic abnormalities are identified in <1% of the patients, with the aetiology of SOD remaining unclear in the majority of patients. This has led to debate as to other factors, which may also have a role in the pathogenesis of SOD. Many studies have reported an increased prevalence of antenatal drug and alcohol abuse and younger maternal age in SOD cohorts.2, 26 This in combination with the pattern of neurological abnormalities found in individuals with SOD led Lubinsky27 to suggest that septo-optic dysplaisa occurs secondary to a vascular disruption sequence.28 It is likely that although other genetic abnormalities are likely to be identified in the future, environmental factors such as drugs, alcohol and anterior cerebral artery supply during the neonatal period may also play a significant role in the aetiology of SOD.
Well that IS interesting.
She was often papped drunk during her pregnancy with Harvey ,so in the end no-one can say if that or genetics caused H's condition.
Is there a history of that condition in Dwight Yorke's family ? Or KP's ? I presume not or she'd be yacking on about that when the issue of her drinking binges during pregnancy was brought up.
Either way I would happily call KP a liar on the "doc recommendation " carp. In my opinion it is just her trying to justify her doing precisely as she wishes irrespective of any child involved. I can't imagine any doctor "recommending" horse riding & show jumping to a patient with a history of miscarriage & other gynae (ahem) 'issues'.

KP has a history of miscarriages , hasn't she had more than one ? If the stories are true , she is worried she will miscarry this pregnancy too...so why risk it , even if her doc.told her it was ok ( I have my doubts about that ).
If this pregnancy is so important to her , why would she take the chance of jeopardising it ?
surely that's just common sense ?
common sense...Jordan? DOES NOT COMPUTE!

The issue at discussion is the safety of this present child in the womb. Therefore speculation on possible mistakes in the past is totally relevant.
I agree it is sad,but so is a woman with dodgy maternity issues lolloping around on a huge unpredictable animal just for fun.And her claiming her doc recommended it is a joke. No doctor would do that. At best he would say "it is your choice, but these are the risks....".
The risks to baby for most women would far outweigh the need for personal gratification.

I'm not one but I did point out that there could be a link between drug/ drink issues when someone said the report didn't say that.

Was just pointing out the facts.

I don't care but I think she's just embarrassing and bad role model for young girls.

Also horse jumping when that early in a pregancy? with her history?

No relevance at all.. .. Some are claiming they know better than the evidence we have been given ..that Harveys disabilities are genetic .. .. Claiming it must be drink/drugs that caused his disabilities ...
I didn't say she said her doctor recommended anything .. I said she asked her doc if she could ride and he said it was ok.. He may of stipulated guidelines I.e. no jumping etc .. I'm not privvy to that information

BIB . Where has anyone "claimed it must be ...." ?
People have theorised(and I tend to agree) that her refusal to stop drinking during a pregnancy might possibly have had an adverse affect on the unborn child. Someone claimed not & quoted an article on the condition . Badcat cleverly observed the additional info that drink (or drugs) cannot be ruled out & highlighted that fact. No-one on here has claimed it must be so because none of us know. Neither does KP,but yet she keeps insisting her version is 100% accurate, when in reality she has absolutely no way of knowing that for sure & is whistling in the dark to reassure herself.
Again,it most certainly is totally relevant. She is once again pregnant & once again appearing to care more about satisfying her own desires than the safety of the tiny baby within her .In the same manner she did in the H pregnancy. That is the connection.

A good friend of mine continued riding (hunting) until well into her pregnancy. She lost the baby at 7 months. I have never known anyone to continue riding whilst pregnant.

We know you're a big KP fan Betty, but to assume you know what's been said by Harvey's doctors is going too far.

Everyone who comments on here ASSUMES they know what they are writing is right
I.e. claiming to know Katie's child care arrangements etc ..

Do they?

I don't, I'm just expressing a personal opinion when I post, and I'm certainly not privy to someone's medical notes.

Salty ..really .. As his main carer his mother will of been told every detail of his disabilities and how it is affecting his life etc. . You don't need to be privvy to someone's hospital notes to know that..
We all assume stuff cos none of us know the real details

Where did anyone claim it said "there is..."as a fact ? We can read it stating there may be. Therefore it is a possibility, which is all anyone on here has ever claimed.

Her specialists could have told her anything, maybe they told her alcohol consumption is a possible factor, maybe they lectured her on it,but being KP she would never admit to this would she ? We have only her word (laughs out loud) on what she was told and she is known to tailor any given situation to suit her.
The fact remains that in that article it states that alcohol or drug use could be a factor, and I'd say 99% of the population would believe an online article on studying & defining the condition over anything from KP's lips.
Here's hoping the stupid woman ceases riding her horses & thinks of the baby's safety rather than her own pleasure. We are always being told how busy she is with her wide variety of projects,so she should focus on that & leave the riding till after baby.

His care is not the issue.Nor is how it is affecting his life.
How he acquired the condition is what is being debated along with basic safety in her pregnancy.

And that is what I've answered .. IT'S GENETIC .. is that clear enough ...Obviously for some that answer won't be accepted because then the finger of blame can't be pointed at Katie.. In my family we have members with Downs and Spina biffada .. Should I point the finger at my mother cos it might of been something she did when pregnant??

Betty, it's been pointed out ^ that this condition, can be due to outside influences as well as genetics. I said it looked as if it was genetics only, but I'm happy to stand corrected.

It is likely that although other genetic abnormalities are likely to be identified in the future, environmental factors such as drugs, alcohol and anterior cerebral artery supply during the neonatal period may also play a significant role in the aetiology of SOD.
With respect, you're such a big KP fan that you seem blind to some of the things she does.

I don't believe Katie is perfect..far from it.. She makes mistakes..hands up anyone who hasn't... No one ?? Thought not..
Yes, we all make mistakes, problem is with KP she'll never hold her hand up to any.

Her huge ego won't let her do that.

Downs Syndrome and Spina Bifada are completely different to what young Harvey has.

Downs syndrome is 100% a genetic issue and they don't know what causes spina bifida.

The condition Harvey has COULD be genetic or MAY be caused by prenatal drink/ drugs issues due to the studies carried out. The doctors may never know. Did you read the article?

So it could be genetic or not.

Am I pointing fingers? No I am not, I just like correct facts to be noted.

As I've stated before. I worry about her horseriding when she has lost babies before. I worry about what her kids might find out about her when they grow up. I worry she doesn't set a good role model for young girls.

I don't give a flying squirrel what she does to herself, provided it doesn't hurt the people she is meant to protect and love (i.e. her kiddies and kiddies to be)

I'm not being funny..but why do you worry about Katie Price and her family so much??im told I'm a massive vpcan..yet I don't worry about her like you do
Oh and by the way... I do know Spina biffada and downs are not what Harvey has .. I was making a point....

It's a pity she hasn't learned from them, then. She's on an endless repeating cycle of mistakes.
