I wonder if the staff in Greggs have been told not to sell donuts or pies to overweight people?
Likewise newsagents advising customers not to smoke. It doesn't make sense to blame someone for selling you a product when that is how they make their living. Whilst I accept that she obviously has some psychological problems, she can't shift the blame for what has happened to her onto someone else.

I also find it hard to believe that some of the surgeons didn't at least try to put her off.

Selling doughnuts and pasties to fat people is is a different thing to altering someone's appearance with major surgery.

Guidelines need to be in place so that people aren't ripped off by unscrupulous surgeons who are told that they need cosmetic surgery when they don't. People with BDD like Alicia Douvall are vulnerable in this case.

Didn't she go abroad for a lot of her surgery because they wouldn't do it here?

No wonder she had problems.
What a nightmare of a father..

For Alicia, born Sarah Howes, a key to explaining her actions may lie in her ‘difficult’ childhood. ‘I was the youngest of three and had a different father from my two older sisters. My dad used to put us all down.
'He’d joke and tell me I was ugly. But he also had a temper, and would often say the same thing in anger. It was a daily occurrence – we were always on tiptoes around him.’

Don't know if she went abroad, but it doesn't sound as if the people she went to were members of the cosmetic surgeons professional body BAAPS (), so perhaps all they were interested in was making money out of a sad woman with a lot of problems.

Consultant plastic surgeon Kevin Hancock, of the British Association of Aesthetic and Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), says: ‘A sizeable minority of those seeking cosmetic surgery aren’t psychologically suitable for a life-changing procedure – particularly if they seem excessively concerned about an imagined defect, or worry their perceived flaw is unduly affecting other aspects of their life.
‘BAAPS surgeons regularly turn away one in five patients, in many cases for mental health reasons, but the sad reality is that, even when we urge them to seek support from a psychotherapist, they may simply continue to shop around until they find a less-conscientious provider who will treat them.’
The association is developing a standardised questionnaire that would flag up those at risk – a tool that could be adopted by all clinics.

It is the same principle though and cosmetic surgeons are selling a product. As far as I know there are already guidelines in place (see the BAAPS website) but of course some are unscrupulous. I do have some sympathy for this woman but the world is full of people who will take advantage of you if you let them.

She was banned from having surgery in the UK, according to herself, so that's a lie for starters that no one tried to stop her. Always the victim, eh. And she funded her surgery with cynical kiss'n'tells - And we're supposed to feel sympathy for her!

In the absence of anything of substance, she's been trotting out these atttention-seeking poor me sob stories for years - this one dates from 2009.

I guess if you're desperate for the surgery, you'd sha* anything to do a K&T to fund it - even Mickey Rourke and Dean Gaffney.

If I remember rightly she went abroad plenty of times because of the ban.. She is a fraud and will no doubt have surgery again and blame it on her "problem" and sell the story again .. A never ending cycle

She hasn't had an operation for a year, so she must be on the right track and even says she probably won't bother to have corrective surgery for the problems she already has.

She seems to be concentrating on her business now and has other things to think about, so I think a bit of slack needs to be cut.
If she's op- free in another year, she'll probably never do it again.

Even if she has, people can change.

Sounds to me as though this is the longest she's gone without an op, and for someone who had an op a day for a fortnight, that's not bad going.

She's a sad pathetic kiss'n'tell merchant, and will continue to present herself as a victim for money. She did that Cowell K&T because he failed to mention her in his autobio. (Who can blame him, to be fair.) Other people might appreciate not being mentioned, she on the other hand jumped on it to make money.

Re the surgery, personally, she can have a new boob attached to the side of her head for all I care, I just feel sorry for her kids.

I feel sorry for her kids too especially the one who has been named after a fruit????

Just think of the money she has wasted that could have been put to better use than on her own vanity.

I don't think her kids need to be felt sorry for. Georgia seems to be a level headed young girl who loves her little sister and will always be there for her.

Alicia has been an idiot, in throwing good money after bad but at least she acknowledges the fact and at last seems to be helping herself, her daughters and women's co-ops in Morocco by setting up a business.

Georgia is like that in spite of her mother and has spent many years being the adult in the relationship - and will probably be the primary carer for her sister. She is FAR more deserving of our sympathy than her whoring, media whore of a "mother".

Well, that's me told.

You obviously think people can never change for the better. I prefer to think they can. That's the difference between you and me.

You don't actually know what I think. For example, I think there are far more differences between us than the fact that you seem to like this media whoring skank because she "says" she has changed.

Again, this is the woman who is still lying about her CHILD'S age in order to keep herself a few years younger.

And her father was so terrible that she didn't mind leaving her own child with him? Strange that.

Can you point out where she did that? Personally I couldn't care less if she says she's a 5 month foetus. You seem unwarrantedly angry about her - has she hurt you in some way?

To me she sounds like a seriously effed up woman who's trying to rebuild her life, what's wrong with that?

ETA - just found this old thread.

She was 38 when that thread was in action, so she'll be around 40 now. Georgia was born when AD was 22 so she's 18 now.

If you are happy to be lied to that is up to you, although it would seem strange to then believe a proven liar.

Yes, yes she has. She took my eye out with one of her former boobs in a tragic goat riding accident.

Cos she sold the same story in 2010...

It's good to see you don't care. Thanks for checking something I already knew, though.

I'm confused, did the Sun get their info wrong
As a teenager she fell pregnant with daughter Georgia, who was looked after by her parents for the first nine years of her life
so was she a teenager or 22 when she fell pregnant?

From the old thread.

Georgia was born when she was nearly 22, she certainly wasn't a teenage mother.
