You can login to Yahoo with your Sky login details, although not all e-mails are there yet.

Please can I ask someone for help!

I have no Idea what's going on with SKY email .I knew it was moving and we had to accept the terms and conditions did that.

But now I can't access any mails on my Iphone and Windows live mail do i have to change something?

And I remember in the old SKY email that all my emails I ever got were on the server and you could forward to windows live mail are they all gone now?

What a nightmare I hate the way they keep changing things !

My Sky account in my secondary email address so I sent an email from my main address as a test.
Although I could see the mail on the Sky/ Yahoo website it wasn't being downloaded by my tablet email software.
I just left it a while and the mail did come through without me changing any settings. I assume that Sky are progressingly changing accounts over so be patient.
I did send a second test email after receiving the first and it came through straight away.

Significant issues arising from the migration, judging by the volume of posts on Sky's forum:

http://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Emai...emailsandtools

Common complaint from what I can gather, seems to be "thousands" of "deleted" emails over several years being downloaded to "Outlook" etc.

According to Sky it's a "Live Scheduled event".

It looks like there's universal hatred of the new Yahoo service. I didn't bother transferring over to Yahoo as I've never been impressed with their email offerings. Updating my email contact details for everything was a bit of a pain, but it looks like it was worth it!

Doh, despite warning her the Mrs didn't accept the Yahoo email terms until today. Now she has none of her historic emails as we were IMAP to the old (gmail) account.

Any way of getting them back, or has that account now gone?

According to https://my.sky.com/mysky/makethemost...email_info_a2h, customers have until the end of April to accept the T&Cs, so hopefully she'll be able to retrieve them in the coming days.

Live scheduled event?

They didnt have a clue. I managed to switch off at under 1000. I rang Sky in a panic and was told not to log on again until after 5pm today.

Just cannot understand why they didnt just de-activate the Outlook function until everything was clear.

Now have hundred of emails to delete again.

An update to the "Live Sceduled event":

Following switchover to Sky Yahoo! Mail, some of our customers are noticing a large number of emails being downloaded to their email client.

We’re aware of this issue, have an on-going investigation and are working to resolve it. We will provide an update at 5pm today (Friday 5 April 2013).

To minimise the chances of this affecting your email client, please sign in to your Sky Yahoo! Mail via the web at sky.com.

Also, if you’ve changed your email connection settings from IMAP to POP or vice versa, please be aware that these two connection types behave slightly differently. See our related help article for more information.

Outage start time: 05 Apr 2013 - 12:45

Easy to be wise after the event I know, but you should set your e-mail client to delete the messages from the server when they're downloaded to your computer.
Then they automatically get put in the bin on the server, which then automatically permanently deletes them after a certain time.
You seem now to be able to subsequently transfer the deleted messages back to the inbox and re-download them, which didn't work on Google Mail (they went into the inbox but couldn't be re-downloaded). That's good because it gives you belt and braces if you delete a message on your e-mail client and then decide you still want it.

Just spotted this article:
Thousands of old and duplicated emails are flooding the inboxes of irritated BSkyB customers - after the media giant dumped Google's Gmail overnight and turned to Yahoo! to run its message service.
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/04...r_subscribers/

I think that the change-over was relatively-well advised to customers- so I'm not sure about the argument, "little or no warning for some users"- but its implementation clearly raises questions (although I'm not sure I'm qualified to ask the right questions, let alone give the answers!)

Hi, I'm not sure what this is forum is about, I'm transferring from BT for my broadband to Sky next week, I have always used Yahoo mail for my e-mails, will I still be able to access my Yahoo e-mails as normal when I transfer over, if i can't I need to sort something out fairly quickly as all my booked holiday details are held in there plus lots of other e-mails I need.

Hi Pea1,
This issue is about Sky's email service and has no connection to other Yahoo accounts or any other suppliers' branded accounts that use Yahoo.

Sky provide "@sky.com" email accounts, which were supplied by Google. They decided to change their provider to Yahoo.

To cut a very long and technical story short:
During the transition this week, unintended consequences apparently occurred, that flooded Sky email customers with, in some cases, thousands of historic emails, and multiple copies of them, that they had previously deleted.

Hence, there are some very upset and angry Sky customers , who are venting their feelings online at http://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Emai...emailsandtools amongst other places.

The other main issue was people that followed Sky's advice and switched from IMAP to POP3 because Sky said IMAP was not supported on desktop clients and now have big problems syncing email between devices.

I just glad I left everything alone because it appears IMAP is supported on desktop clients although neither Sky or Yahoo will offer any technical support.

Slightly different problem for me. I am being asked to verify the login details for the POP3 server.

I haven't had to login for years so I am not sure what the user name is. I know the password but I've tried a few times and no luck.

I guess all I can do is to phone Sky but that's going to be easier said than done at the minute.

This is totally crazy. I have over 20,000 emails. Do they think we have the time to delete them or put into folders? How long is that going to take. Calculate hourly rate and send them a bill.

I am hopping mad. Grrrr

I think the key points of last night's update were:

....we have no way to sort them for you ..... delete any old emails you might not want....
... which roughly translates as, they have no way of remedying the situation they've caused?

Last update- about 16 hours ago. Customers calling for answers to a multitude of issues:
http://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Emai...E/td-p/1023392

I'm getting the impression that some of the issues just aren't fixable by Sky, now that they've happened?

How could they have failed to appreciate the consequences to their customers, of their actions?

At first I was freaked out by the continuous stream of new emails arriving in my Windows Mail inbox, thought I had a virus or been hacked. But when I realised that, apart from a couple of genuinely new emails at the top of the list all the others were duplicates all I did was choose "Hide Read Messages" instead of "Show All Messages" then selected the lot and deleted.
