Absolutely agree. That looks like what I would call minimal make up. I wear more than that to pop to the corner shop.
I can't pop to the corner shop without trowelling it on, I wish I could be comfortable bare faced, but I need the war paint.

I think she is gorgeous.
Yes,low cut tops/dresses at funerals are a tad tacky & I dunno why she was even invited when she wasn't singing ,but she is def very pretty.

I am annoyed with her red carpet pose for the marathon.

For me, its that she looks and acts like a Barbie doll when I see her in pictures. For example, the posing for the marathon. More plastic than human with caked-on make-up. All fluff than stuff.

So she did the marathon in full slap, including stick-on eyelashes.

Hardly worth bothering though, since most of it will have slid southwards by the end of the 26 miles.

If that's 'minimal', when she's in full fig it must be at least 2 inches thick.
But she looked SO much better and actually younger than when she's done up in her 'war paint'.

Amy Child's really did go for the kill and had full slap on

wow, this girl cant do nothing without attracting catty comments it seems. i thought criticisms about her music was justified to a degree, i also felt that perhaps some comments of disbelief at her outfit at that funeral was inevitable in all honesty and i even conceded the fact that she was there in the first place was bound to surprise some people. put that together with some of her other alleged self promoting antics like way she dealt with the low key beckham rumours and its no wonder she has many critics

however, condemning the girl for (shock horror) posing for photographs and wearing make-up, when she just ran 26 miles raising money for a charity which is clearly important to her is unbelievably crass. actually, suggesting these comments are catty is being generous, some comments are just purely spiteful.

I can't deny she's pretty, but there's 'something' about her. I suppose i find she comes across as 'false' for some reason.

Did you see how much Amy Child's had on?! She has full going out at night face on! If I as doing the marathon I wouldn't even bother, it'll be smeared everywhere by the end.

Jan Moir ouch!!

"don’t wish to be rude, but there were ’orses on that course wearing more clothes. Katherine has always denied having a boob job — or even two — but if she had, just say for a minute that she did, she’d have certainly got her money’s worth.
Whether it is a day at the races, a marathon, a funeral or a concert, her public image is becoming more and more . . . extreme. Her heels are always too high, her tops too low, her hats too big, her hair too blonde and her teeth too white. She is always too much.

A very modern celebrity: Jenkins is a wily user of social media, to help boost her fame and popularity, and someone who clings onto her fame with a terrier-like tenacity
At all times she behaves not only as if she was playing herself in a film version of her life, but also as if the Cecils Beaton and de Mille were dressing and choreographing her.
Once upon a time, not so very long ago, there were hopes that Jenkins would be the kind of mega star who would be headlining her own concert tours — a dream particularly cherished by Katherine.
Yet over the past few years her record sales have slumped in the UK. A change of direction from the light operatic mould — which won her so many early fans — to a more pop-based repertoire has not met with critical or popular acclaim. To say the least.
Back in 2004, her career started well with Universal Records, a company brilliant at packaging and promoting light operatic talents — as their success with Andrea Bocelli, Gareth Malone and the Military Wives, Alfie Boe and the popular violinist and conductor Andre Rieu will testify. Originally, Jenkins was marketed as a kind of female Bocelli — a singer who was technically not fantastic, but who would touch hearts. Not a mythical diva, but simply Our Kath"

Love it Jan stick the boot in big time , our Kath deserves it big time, she would get dolled up and tweet because shes going to the opening of an envelope.

She's a beautiful woman.

That's pretty much it, really. They despise women who look good.

Think the woman has looks , doll like features, but she also annoyed me arriving at Maggies funeral. she posed hardly noticing the woman she was with. wanting all the attention.. and was done up more to go to a wedding than a funeral...

Katherine is a lovely looking woman but seems to need to appear CONSTANTLY in heavy make up, false eye lashes, hair bleached to an Inch of its life etc....... even when running a Marathon!!!!. I think if she just relaxed a bit and stopped looking like a 1930 Film Star, the public might actually like her more. She is always a bit too much for me, too blonde, too much White teeth and Comes across rather plastic! Sorry, I just cannot warm to her.

This is one thing I've never understood about Katharine. With all her money, how does she end up with such a bad dye job.

It's a lousy advert for whoever her hairdresser is. It looks like her friend did it in the back kitchen with the cheapest blonde colour on offer at Superdrug.
Agree. My hairdresser uses five different colours to get a more nature blonde look. That awful bleached Job that Katharine has is so old fashioned and makes her look plastic, together with the tons of heavy make up.

Shirley Bassey and Joan Collins, way bigger stars but way less attention seeking and dressed down, respectful head wear
In all honesty though - I doubt being in their 70's and 80's these two would want to wear anything low cut. Spaniel's ears spring to mind!

I'm sure they'd act much the same if they were young and pretty again!

I find it strange that Ms Jenkins hardly attracted much slagging from her townfolk of Neath for attending Mrs Thatcher's funeral.

After all, Mrs Thatcher was responsible for closing down all the coal mines in other Welsh towns including Neath during the 80s. She got a lot of flak over this and still does to this day. But not Katherine Jenkins? I wonder why? Could it be the townpeople of Neath too proud to criticise their one own & only Ms Jenkins?

I was so embarrassed when she sang God Save The Queen at the grand national horse racing event.
The woman can't sing and has quite an irritating voice, why did they invite her to make a fool of herself?
If there are two welsh musicians I detest then it's her and Charlotte Church.
I loved Aled Jones as a soprano kid and that Xmas song of his, Walking In The Air from the animated film Snowman. I still like him as an adult and the things he does such as a tv presenter.
But it's the over exposure of Katherine Jenkins because she's a friend of the royals that's grating IMO.

have you been to neath since the funeral or are you basing your opinion on what is written in this thread? assuming its the later, i don't see how you could possibly deduce that from my previous post or my other one contribution to this thread and the comment directly below my last post is hardly another glowing example of national pride.

in my last post i was quite candid about her faults and i even suggested that perhaps some criticisms were justified. so on what basis can you make this claim or observation?

As per my earlier post in the thread, Katherine is no stranger to making snide, catty comments herself.

yes and i accepted in the rest of the post you quoted that perhaps some criticism of her is deserved. her sweeping generalisations in that quote you posted was indeed ill advised and could be considered catty. however, she was generalising though and she was addressing perhaps deserved on going criticism of her musical talents. there`s obviously a difference between making sweeping generalisations and making below the belt pot shots at individuals for little reason.

i am assuming from this response, that you somehow feel that the latest wave of criticism is justified, because of her previous form for defending herself with questionable opinions about the opera world? your welcome to that opinion, but i personally find mocking a woman that run 26 miles for charity more than a little distasteful.

I think the criticism is a little harsh. I'm a little perplexed at how she could look so fresh after running a marathon though, most people look a bit knackered.

Implying she's too beautiful for opera is a bit ignorant though, and kinda shows she knows nothing about it.
