Can't see a thread for this:

Saw it last night, and felt it took AGES to get going, and ten ended really quickly. It wasn't an awful movie, but the 'bad guy' cops it pretty quickly with no real interaction with the main cast. The goofy boy in the ending was a bit strange too, what was the point in him? I took it that he was a decendant of the goofy aid to the kings aid.

2.5/5

I really enjoyed it!

Way better than that shite Oz prequel. It was nice see real surroundings like fields and Tree'sHi rather than crappy cgi stuff. The giants were great and the audience I was in with actually responded verbally to many of the giant scenes - didn't get that with Oz The Weak and Feeble.

Good chemistry between the main characters. The boy at the end was supposed to be a descendant of Roderick.

It was enjoyable enough, I thought Nicholas Hoult and Ewan McGregor done well. The giants were good, and I agree with the earlier poster about it being better than Oz.

The ending was quite weird, I'm assuming it was there to build up to a sequel or something? Also, the battle was a bit anti-climatic I thought...

I enjoyed it the Giants CGI was really good, but yes the ending did seem rushed. I assume they're hoping for a sequel. It took so long to get going, and the first half was basically a re-telling of the fairytale that we all know, before they even got to the beanstalk. I like the ending the way the "story" changed going through the ages, till it ended as the "fairytale we all know.

I saw it last week, I couldn't think of any scenes in it that would be particularly scary for children.

Wasn't impressed with the film, probably would give it 4/10.

One of the reasons I really enjoyed it was I don't think it was over-promoted and hyped up so it was a pleasant surprise.
Unlike that awful Oz film that was hyped beyond belief that it was something special when it was a vacuous CGI-fest that probably didn't even feature one real blade of grass.

Just got back from watching it this morning and I must say, I enjoyed it immensely. I don't think they spent too long setting up the new twist on the story personally, and once the stalk was up, it moved along at a pretty rapid pace.

Would be nice to hear the thinking making most of the giants sound like they've all come from a suburb of belfast though

There's a much more entertaining version of JATB currently on rotation on Sky, with Chloe Moretz in it. I recommend that one instead.

I enjoyed this film.

It had good CGI & was nicely paced.

It's nothing special, but it's decent enough & worth a look IMO.

PS: I never realised it was a British film, as it had an American big budget feel about it.

I quite liked it
It wasn't a great film, just a good film. quite enjoyable.

I never got a hint of a sequal from that ending.
