Ever heard of Therus? I haven't, so he's probably an original character, played by Darwin Shaw.

No Therus in any of my Greek mythology books so yep, sounds like a new character for the show.

It's a nice beach. Will be interesting to see how they combine these shots with the Welsh landscapes.
The guy in the bathrobe on the left must be one of the actors (Jason?). The big bearded man is definitely director Justin Molotnikov.

Christopher Obi plays Shabaka. Ancient Egypt might be involved in the story, because according to Wikipedia...

Shabaka (Shabataka) or Shabaka Neferkare, 'Beautiful is the Soul of Re', was a Kushite pharaoh of the Twenty-fifth dynasty of Egypt, between (721 BC-707/706 BC).
There are many Egyptian sets in Atlas Film Studios where Atlantis is filmed.

I know every year Merlin used to factor at Comic-Con but does anyone know if Atlantis might? It would be a good launch pad for the series, we could do with a trailer too and I'm sure SyFy will inevitably want to air this themselves too.

Oh and GBali, thanks for the casting updates too.

I agree, but I'm not sure. The creators may be too busy to attend Comic-Con in the first year of the show. (By the way I think Merlin's first visit to San Diego was in 2010, with series 3.) Even without a proper panel and Q&A, a trailer and some other kind of promotion would be nice from BBC Worldwide. Atlantis has the potential to become one of the big international hits, but the distributor needs to do some effort.

A couple of bodies and some video, should be provided, to build up some momentum and BBC Worldwide sales....

A few days for them needs to be worked into the schedule.

Nicely put.

Hoping we get some trailer soon, just something to really whet our appetite.

Is Thomas Aldersley playing Talos? Some interesting tweets: #1 #2 #3 #4

Talos had one vein, which went from his neck to his ankle, bound shut by only one bronze nail. The Argo, transporting Jason and the Argonauts, approached Crete after obtaining the Golden Fleece. As guardian of the island, Talos kept the Argo at bay by hurling great boulders at it. According to the pseudo-Apollodorus' Bibliotheke, Talos was slain when Medea the sorceress either drove him mad with drugs, or deceived him into believing that she would make him immortal by removing the nail. In Argonautica, Medea hypnotized him from the Argo, driving him mad with the keres she raised, so that he dislodged the nail, and "the ichor ran out of him like molten lead", exsanguinating and killing him.

Regarding international sales, there's an interesting discussion in the Doctor Who sub-forum about BBC Worldwide's costs, profits, etc. and a very good point made by zz9:

certainly keeping to a fixed number of episodes a year would help international sales. Nothing worse than "Well you can have half a dozen episodes this year and maybe another six next year..." uncertainty.
This must be a really important factor and the main reason for the BBC giving the autumn Saturday slot to the same production team that created Merlin. Producing 13 episodes for five years has been a truly remarkable achievement, and 13 x 45 minutes is ideal for international distribution. Hopefully they can keep up this standard.

Answering my own question: no, he's playing a character named Mikos.

Looks like we have a goddess too. Stephanie Langton plays Demetria.
Demetria or Demeter is the sister of Zeus and the goddess of the harvest. She presided over grains and the fertility of the earth.

thisisgloucestershire.co.uk: Stars filming for new Atlantis series in Forest of Dean

CELEBRITIES from the small screen have been retelling epic myths with a little help from the Forest of Dean's stunning scenery.

Film crews shooting Atlantis for the BBC have chosen a former supermarket warehouse in Chepstow as their main studio base and have been venturing across the River Wye of late to shoot scenes in the Forest.

Mark Addy, Juliet Stevenson (pictured) and Sarah Parish are among the cast members starring in the 13-part series, described as a "thrilling fantasy drama" which "brings to life the vast store of Greek myths and legends re-imagined for a new generation".

Some of them have been spotted by people in the area. Gareth Porter of Quad Bikes Wales, which sells and hires out specialist off-road vehicles, tweeted: "Nice day filming Atlantis in the Forest Of Dean with the quads. Scorchio!"

And watch out for a rogue mountain biker when the show hits screens this autumn too.

Forest of Dean Mountain Bike Guides tweeted on Thursday: "Just accidentally rode onto a film set, whoops!!!!"
The series is being seen by pundits as a replacement for the BBC's Merlin show, much of which was shot at Puzzlewood and Clearwell Caves as the legendary province of Camelot was recreated for viewers.

But, while Atlantis teams have been in the Forest, they have not headed to either of those locations, although Clearwell Caves co-owner Jonathan Wright is hopeful some business will come their way.

He said: "We had the location checkers come round not long ago with the director and producer because they specifically needed an underground lake for one scene. We've got an underground lake but they couldn't get the angle they wanted so they didn't do any filming, which upset us a bit. But now they've been here, hopefully they will come back if the script demands it at some point."

Former Skins actor Will Merrick plays Arcas in Atlantis. In Greek mythology Arcas was the son of Zeus and Callisto. He became king of Arcadia, then he was put up in the heavens by Zeus as one of the constellations.

Does that mean BBCA themselves will also be airing the show?

BBC America issued a press release yesterday formally announcing that they are co-producing Atlantis and that the series will air as part of Supernatural Saturday in Fall 2013.

Hopefully since BBC One will be airing Atlantis on Saturday nights (the show is filling the Merlin gap, right?), BBC America will air it the same night.

It's filling the Merlin gap but if BBCA and BBC1 air it on the same night, it'll be similar to what they do with Doctor Who.

Tumblr page ...

But you have to answer this riddle ...

What goes in the morning upon 4 feet, in the afternoon goes upon 2, in the evening goes upon 3?

Spoiler
