Its probably a nice free jolly outing for some of the presenters - bit like most sporting events!

No doubt they will be doing a special on 'post -uprising Egypt' and have to send a team out there
Wonder who's turn it is to do the foreign jaunt ?
From memory,Shelagh's just got back from Jordan and Rachel did Rome.

Gotta be honest, I wouldn't be seeing Egypt as some sort of foreign jolly right now. The place is highly unstable and there have been plenty of reports of journalists, especially women, being attacked. It's best treated as a warzone for the foreseeable future.

The role of women in the new Egypt and how they have previously been victims hidden away - I can feel a derbyshire coming on. But yes for once this subject DOES need covering.

Maybe they should start reporting it as a military coup removing Egypt's first democratically elected president.

The problem is that VD's show has become virtually all about rape, child abuse, cancer, domestic abuse, depression, suicide..…and other ‘real life’ stories. Yes these topics should be addressed on 5 live but the morning programme needs some variety, as I have said before it is like she is on autopilot just turning up at her London studio churning out the same depressing show, day after day.
This morning I heard a bloke say he'd been going to inner child therapy , WTF ?

Jonathan Oberon displaying serious bias towards Wimbledon semi-finalist Sabine Lisicki, yelling into the mic with glee each time she scores a point and sounding lukewarm when her opponent scores. I've never really liked him but this is disgraceful commentary.

During the Liskiski Williams encounter shown on bbc1 my wife and I counted 32 consequetive 'Serena's whilst 'Sabine' was not said - only Liskiski.

Now Sabine is the bbc favourite!

Rachel took over the phone in from Nicky (I am on the tv a lot) Campbell this morning to discuss the omission of BOD from the Lions tour.
It appeared they dumped Ian Robertson from the discussion during the travel he was going on rather a lot but a strange way to treat a respected commentator.
They probably should have dumped him earlier, going by the comments he made to BBC News after the Third Test team was named and judging by the comments attributed to him from his Radio 5 Live interview on the BBC Sport website.

I've never bought into the hype surrounding Robertson, but even so I was shocked at quite how disrespectful he has been about Warren Gatland's brave yet totally justifiable selection calls, not to mention the players who have been brought into the Lions team. The "picked some names out of a lucky bag" comment is particularly unbecoming of a supposed "respected commentator". Agree or disagree with Gatland's individual calls, he's picked the team that he thinks is best suited to beating Australia and it is just embarrassing that Robertson chooses to denigrate him and his team in such a petty way.

The British & Lions committee did the right thing in selling the UK radio rights to the tour of Australia to talkSPORT, who have taken radio coverage of a Lions tour onto a new level (it's the first time every game from a Lions tour has been covered live and in full on UK-wide analogue radio). Judging by his completely over the top rants from yesterday, Robertson has not been missed - in my opinion he's still dining out on his overrated commentary on Jonny Wilkinson's drop goal from ten years ago and isn't in the same class as most of the other prominent rugby union commentators out there. I didn't think someone could move me to want the Lions to win this series any more strongly than I felt on Saturday, so thanks Robertson (and Keith Wood and Stuart Barnes) for making me really want the Lions shove those words right down your throat!

I don't agree with the morning phone-in topic being sport. TS used to and may still have a sports phone-in during that time where they would discuss a specific topic.

Yet another garbage VD show. I turned off as soon as she started spouting on about two brothers and some 'dark family secret' I just knew it was going to be about rape, cancer, kiddie fiddling or mental illness

If anyone did listen please put me out of my misery, which one was it or did I miss something really exciting (like perhaps they had an alien from Mars in the cellar)

I'm in no-way a union supporter, but Robertson is top of the list of terrible BBC 'sports correspondents' - as you say yourself, over rated and, I think, not quite up to speed with the current era of the sport.

Right thanks, I won't waste my time reading it, I'm sure she'll be flooding the airways with the same old shite next week as well.

Andy Murray’s mother Judy, 53, is doing nothing to dampen fevered speculation within the BBC about her blossoming friendship with 5 Live sports reporter George Riley, 18 years her junior.

Judy mysteriously tweeted ‘Happy Birthday Jude X’, with the message meant for Riley, who was 35 yesterday. And the pair were spotted in an affectionate embrace after dinner with friends at Wimbledon’s San Lorenzo restaurant last week.

It seems that our george is getting sexually frisky at the Tennis!!

Good luck to him, i say!

I have to agree about some of the comments regarding the content of Victoria Derbyshire's programmes.
I think she's a good presenter, but her shows lately seem to be stuck on a loop and it almost becomes desensitising to hear the same, albeit sometimes awful, issues day after day.
Also I always get the feeling she's presenting and interviewing with one half of her listening out for an award winning clip, or a piece of Radio Gold, like when the lady who was about to enter rehab for her alcoholism rang the show, and the interview was replayed several times over the next months; you could tell at the time that Victoria, although empathetic, knew she'd hit the jackpot, broadcasting wise.

What is the record for mistakes Rachel Burden can make in one edition. Between 6 and half past I counted 7. I gave up then I could not stomach any more of the Reilly guy. This station is going to pot.

Oh god old Dame Nikki Campbell is at it again with another anti 'Fachur' phone in. The woman is dead for gods sake. The weakest of excuses (nut job Peter Bone) to have it. With all that is going on in the world you think they'd find something else to talk about.

Gone to pot, it's been going for a long while now. Lowest point was Simon Mayo going and Bacon coming in.

The democratic process being subverted by a trade union block buying votes to select a Labour candidate in Falkirk would be an interesting current affairs phone in,

Not here, let's contrive an anti Thatcher hour.

I don't know about top of the list Carter on golf and Overend on Tennis are surely worse.

How can you have a correspondent on such a minority sport as Tennis and then to do that have such an arselicker as Overend, awful waste of TV Tax.
