... Can't believe I live to see this day. But what are the factors that caused Strictly to extend such an decisive lead over XF?
Over 2 million lead on Saturday and over 1 million lead on Sunday results show.
I know it's clear it wasn't because Brucie was in the helm, because Strictly also led XF in ratings when he was away because of flu. Also, the Sunday show was pre-recorded sans Brucie and it still won the ratings battle.
Would like to ask people who watch both shows. Which one do you like? Why? Perhaps you like both shows? For those who watch two shows especially, what do you think are the reasons XF is losing to Strictly this year so resoundingly? Will Cowell's rumour return change things next year?

They need a complete relaunch and change of mission statement. Bring back Simon by all means, but clear the decks of everyone else on the show. Bin Louis, bin Gary, bin Sharon, bin Dermot, bin Caroline Flack, bin the stage set, bin everything.
So... it's a Simon Cowell self-orgy show then?:D
Cowell will return if XFUSA gets the chop and it looks more likely than not that it will. If it does he will return a failure as his boast was that XF would be a huge ratings success there. However sandwiched between The Voice and Idol its been squeezed and has never had the dominance the British show once did.
There will undoubtedly a spike if Cowell returns, especially if they can get the most successful judges back as well. Can it last though?
Strictlys only problem really is that there comes a time when the potential contestants runs a bit thin quality wise.
No I respectfully disagree on this point, there are plenty of presenters, sportspeople (current and retired), actors, ringahs, comedians, models (and dare I say politicians???) etc. to pick from surely? This country's population is not 6 million but over 60 million...
X Factor is designed to make you cry, SCD is created to make you laugh.
The general public know they're being manipulated in many ways from both shows (the sob stories, the DIRTY RINGAHS (whether they are or not), the props, the musical chair elimination, etc etc) . What they care about is what comes out of all that - entertainment for as many people as possible, or just for the production team. For too long now, XF has been a programme broadcast solely to entertain Simon, ITV bosses and advertisers. SCD has maintained its universal appeal.
And that is why it's 2m. higher in the ratings. Class always rises to the top/
I think that's a slightly idealistic way of looking at it. When X Factor was at its most manipulative, most panto, most ridiculous and most overwrought, it was pounding Strictly by 5 million in the ratings. The shock value has worn off, but if they find a new way to outrage people, I'm sure the ratings will go back up again.
Yes I think at its most potent was when it was least like a talent show. For a couple of years it was virtually all over the tabloids for reasons that had nothing to do with a search for talent. It was an absolute masterclass in promotion and manipulation.
A fair point well made. It says much that XF only "works" when it's ramping up the scandal, but "doesn't work" when it focuses only on singing!!
singing/Sharon Osbourne jumping around in her chair yelling "I'LL SUCK YOU OFF IF YOU SAVE MY ACT LOUIS" (only slightly paraphrased)
Sharon doesn't know Louis 'steers the punt from the Cambridge end'???
:D
Love you Monkseal.
