I'm looking to get some decent noise cancelling headphones for flights etc and have narrowed it down to these ( although feel free to suggest alternatives).
Are the bose better than the beyerdynamics ?

From your link the Beyerdynamic DT250 are NOT noise cancelling.

They very well might be noise isolating, a few people have commented in the Amazon reviews that they are good in that aspect. But I would assume the best noise cancelling headphones will be better.

Personally I use a Sony MP3 player that has noise cancelling built-in and find it very effective. It's digital noise cancelling and can be adjusted for circumstances. They must use the supplied in-ear ear phones so are not for everyone.

Sony noise cancelling MP3 players come with an adapter for external music sources.

I got a pair of Lindy noise cancelling headphones. I think I paid around 40 about a year ago. I only use them on flights and they are very good at cancelling the engine noise and more importantly any nearby screaming uncontrolled brats! They are comfortable for long periods of use.

Get a pair of Sony ZX600's, they offer stunning sound quality, and even on full-blast, there is very little noise leakage, certainly not enough for someone to hear over the drone of an aircraft!

I had a pair of the Bose QC 15s and very good they were too - brilliant for watching films and even just for wearing on a flight for the noise cancelling function.

The only downside is that they don't fold and are therefore fairly bulky to carry in hand luggage. I bought mine in the Bose store in Orlando for 200 when, at the time, they were 300 here.

To save space I now have in-ear NC phones but they're nowhere near as good.
