Another leaked track, Lana on her guitar again. At the start echos some of Carmen's lyrics, maybe possibly the origin of her ideas that finally went into that song:

Also people may well have heard it already, but I can't resist putting the demo version of Young And Beautiful on here. Quite like the original lyrics of "Channeling, Joplin, Jimmy Page now" that Baz Luhrmann rewrote for the film version:

Glad you enjoyed that TH14! Fab isn't it!

Totally agree with that emily67. Truly gifted and unique singer. You know various top singers have covered her songs now, and some of them are good versions in their own right, but I don't think anybody can match how Lana sings them herself. Sheer beauty of her voice, all the deep/high vocal tricks she can do with the amount of range she's got (its really technically hard to do what she does in singing terms) and the raw emotion she puts in the vocal. Think Mr Rick Nowells hits the nail on the head when he says she's "magical."

Loved that interview with Rick Nowells, big thanks for that one. Darren Hayes has quite a quirky interviewing style, but I think that's good as he makes Rick relax and just talk. You get quite a lot of insight. Like his comments where he says about even if the song isn't a hit in single chart terms, you know it is a hit when she's performing live in front of thousands of people and everybody in the audience knows the words.

She forms such great songwriting partnerships with her collaborators and Rick has definitely become a key one. An increasing amount of her very best have his name on. And people always come out with all these conspiracy theories how she came to work with these top songwriters. I remember in one of the previous interviews Rick said he simply heard some of her songs on the internet and that was it, he had to work with her. Well, can you blame him?

Great to hear they're writing more potential classics. She brings the poetry and he'll find the perfect chord.

And what's this? The press actually coming out in support? How things change for the better! Time magazine point out what a fantastic shame it is she got snubbed for the Oscar nomination:
http://entertainment.time.com/2014/0...at-sheet-2014/

And here's another more in depth article:
http://entertainment.time.com/2014/0...ul-oscar-snub/

Time magazine frickin' love her!

Lana's US tour (which she has just expanded massively) already breaking Box Office records

The shows that recently went on sale in Las Vegas, Phoenix, and San Francisco sold out immediately. Las Vegas Promoter Huston Powell of C3 Presents said, "Lana Del Rey is the fastest selling show in the 3+ years the Cosmopolitan has been open." And in Phoenix, President of Southwest Music at Live Nation Terry Burke reported, "I can count on one hand how many artists have sold out in one day at Comerica Theatre, and none of them did it faster than Lana Del Rey."
What took the US so long to recognise this amazing talent in their midst? Beats me...

That is some response to her tour Stateside! Brilliant how she finally won them over. She just had to get her material out there where American people could finally listen to it-getting songs in the movies was a masterstroke. See, easy in the end wasn't it huh ?

Did you see this about the most Spotify streamed female artists in the entire world last year- she's no.3 on the list (just behind Rihanna and Katy Perry). Wowza!

Big rumour on ATRL that the new single is about to drop tomorrow but I'll believe it when I see it lol.

PS Just had to paste this UKMix post from the amazing stats man phoenix83:
UK

BTD 56 (44)

This is Born To Die's 100th week in the UK Top 75 (i.e. the official portion of the chart, which gets published in UK chart books etc.)*

Born To Die thus joins the following landmark albums by female artists which have spent 100+ weeks on both the US BB200 and the UK chart **:

19, Adele
21, Adele
Jagged Little Pill, Alanis Morissette
Back To Black, Amy Winehouse
Tapestry, Carole King
Falling Into You, Celine Dion
The Colour Of My Love, Celine Dion
Teenage Dream, Katy Perry
The Fame, Lady GaGa
Born To Die, Lana Del Rey
Like A Virgin, Madonna
Madonna (The First Album), Madonna
The Immaculate Collection, Madonna
Come Away With Me, Norah Jones
Good Girl Gone Bad, Rihanna
Come On Over, Shania Twain
Private Dancer, Tina Turner
Whitney Houston, Whitney Houston

Not bad company for Lana to be in! :P

* excluding the period 1981-1989 when the whole Top 100 was counted towards weeks on chart.
** chart runs for the above albums can be verified on Hanboo's Chart Histories thread here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=13100.

PPS From mediatrafic.de global charts:

Some additional sales stats: 'Born To Die' by Lana Del Rey sold 12.000 copies last week, 4,54 million in total,

She's seriously under estimated the demand for her in her homeland.

Due to overwhelming demand for tickets, Lana Del Rey’s April 25 concert at New Orleans’ 3,000-capacity venue Sugar Mill has moved to the 7,500-capacity Champions Square.

All tickets purchased for Sugar Mill will be valid for Champions Square. Tickets to the new venue go on-sale March 28 via Ticketmaster.com.

More dates will be announced soon!
And more dates to come. Have a feeling this will turn into a World tour.

My word, make that not just some response, but a spectacular response to her tour stateside- way to go Lana!

Full world tour? We'll see!

And I have I no idea whether this is a cryptic clue to something on Ultra or just her messing about, but what the hell lets stick a link to it anyway:

Ok its sorta repeating those stat stories of yours Koney but I can't resist sticking a link Billboard article pointing out Lana's Born to Die has now sold over a million stateside (and they wanted us to believe she was a flop over there, definitely not the case with the sell out tour too):
http://www.billboard.com/articles/co...on-copies-sold

Oh and nearly forgot (d'oh) another story on the fansite that's worth mentioning is the one about Rufus Wainwright telling the Huffington Post that he's collaborated with Lana on a tune. She does some fantastic collaborations doesn't she so it will be interesting to see what that one sounds like.

Great news about the US sales, DRAGON LANCE, I'm hoping UV sales will dwarf the sales of BTD in the US (they are always late to the party when it comes to amazingly talented females!).

Anyway, more great news!
Lana Del Rey confirmed for Glastonbury 2014

Lana Del Rey is the latest act to be confirmed for this year’s Glastonbury festival.

The 27-year-old singer will perform at Worthy Farm on Saturday, June 28, during the three-day festival, which has long been one of Europe’s key summer music events.

Del Rey's Glastonbury set has been listed on her booking agent's official website, along with a string of other European festival appearances. She plays the Marquee in Cork on July 15.

The American singer-songwriter is expected to release her new album Ultraviolence in early May.

This will be the follow-up to her 2012 breakthrough album Born to Die, which topped the UK chart and reached number two in her native US.

I knew it! Thought it was waaay too quiet on the what’s Lana gonna play on the Great Britain front and if there's no announcement and it’s all a bit hush hush it usually means Glasto. Brilliant, with UV coming out it’s a great time for her to play it and can't wait to hear the new songs live. Just want her to use all the great experiences and confidence she’s built up from all the brilliant stage shows she’s done now to give a top class performance we know she can. Go on Lana you can do it!

All the little You Tube vids are cool but the audio is usually heavily compressed so it would be very, very nice to have to have high quality TV footage of her on her most sparkling form.

As far as Ultra goes, I know you always made the point that how much better still would Born to Die have done if the US had have been on board from day 1, so yes I think there’s every chance Ultra will fair much better still. Like B2D it will probably be an album that keeps selling too, probably a lot at that start then have dormant periods before coming back. They’ll probably be a song like Summertime Sadness that becomes a big hit when people least expect it. Although *ahem* hopefully without needing a Cedrix Gervais dance remix…I last heard he’s taken to mutilating some Miley Cyrus tunes… best place for him…

Irrespective of how it sells, the main thing is that it ends up being another stunning album, and it seems like she's on fire at the mo so I think we'll be in for a treat.

Interestingly, The Black Keys are also appearing at Glasto. Raising the chance of a live collab. How amazing would that be?

Talking of The Black Keys (well Dan Auerbach to be precise) he's shared his opinion on the upcoming Ultraviolence album in an interview with BBC6 Music (lokks like he is the producer after all).

Dan Auerbach: It's a monster. It's a sonic monster. It's beautiful. I can't wait for people to hear it.

BBC: Is it that sort of similar kind of widescreen cinematic feel to it?

Dan Auerbach: It does, but even more so, you know I think a lot of her first record was just kind of, you know, was in the box, recorded, but this is a 7-piece band with her singing live in the studio so there's some kind of, uh, really magic, magical moments that we got to capture on tape, and, uh, you know, the kind of thing that you just can't duplicate with, uh, Pro Tools kind of recording, you know what I mean? It's a different thing for her even though her personality is still definitely there and shines through.

Even more excited to hear this now.

Whoa! Like the sound of it being a "sonic monster" that has even more of a widescreen cinematic sounds to it! We've seen her earlier live shows and they were just her, her stage band+ a string section and that really lent the songs a sort of timeless, ethereal quality. I'm thinking from what he says Ultra may well have a similar feel.

And yes it would be rather fun if the Black Keys spring up in her Glasto set too!

I seriously can't wait for Ultraviolence. Born To Die is one of my all-time favorite albums, it's just timeless and beautiful and amazing. The strings, the themes, her smoky voice, gah.

If it is from the UV sessions I doubt it reflects the sound of the album, but I reckon Lana sounds like she had great fun recording it, quite a poppy little number.

Lana gets wet and wild(!) on the beach for the video of her single West Coast:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...est-Coast.html

Also: It looks like Bradley Soileau, who was of course her screen boyfriend in the Born to Die and Blue Jeans videos has returned for this one.

Really really excited to hear what she delivers...i have a feeling now she is more known and an established name she could indeed do bigger/better than the BTD era looking forward to see her grow more and more as an artist

Really cannot wait, when was the album rumoured to be released...was it late May? would be beautiful for the summer to have
