this single doesn't seem to be doing well worldwide..and the video didn't seem to have much impact on the single either, it isn't even top 40 in the UK. The video only has 20 million views after 2 weeks, where as shakira has 130 million after 2 weeks..is this an indication that they are beginning to fade because their past videos had huge views and broke records..

to be fair the album was the best selling record of 2013, so any post-album singles were never gonna do that well. 1D also only rely on their music video to promote - they never do the UK TV/Radio circuit

The single hasn't been released yet, just the video. It'll be released on March 9th.

I thought you meant the album at first and I was like "LOL, no!" ...

The single hasn't even been released so that's why it hasn't charted yet. I don't think it was the best song to pick for the third single though. I'd have preferred Through The Dark or Little White Lies.

Considering they had the fastest and biggest selling album of 2013 in the UK I don't think they are starting to fade at all, last year was their best year yet.

Some countries (e.g. US) are still on their previous single. But yeah, it doesn't seem to be doing very much in most countries. It's not a big deal though, One Direction can probably live off just one big hit a year.

Once again, it has NOT even been released anywhere yet.

it doesn't need to be 'released' though - its a post album single, so the majority of sales can be made from people cherry picking the track from the album on the digital stores. they don't promote on tv in most countries anyway for single releases.

I literally said right before that that a lot of countries are still on the previous single:

It doesn't matter if the release date hasn't been reached though, there's a lot of songs that even got all the way to #1 weeks before their release dates, such as What's My Name? by Rihanna and Airplanes by B.o.B.

Fair enough but I very much doubt a 3rd single from an album that has sold so well would chart so high before it's official release date.

Even if it doesn't chart extremely well I certainly wouldn't say this is a sign that they're starting to fade.

It's their international success that's keeping them afloat. Had 1D not become popular worldwide, then they probably would've faded a long time ago. They're just so much bigger in the US than in the UK. It's obvious when acts like the Vamps and Union J are having hits in the UK but artists like Austin Mahone and Emblem3 are not doing so well in the states. They're not going to get replaced in the US anytime soon even if someone overtakes them in the UK. 5SOS (1D's opening act from the TMH tour) will be successful in the States but not in a "replacing 1D" way.

Well I think they had a pretty big year in the UK. Their album sales here were extremely good. I agree they are probably bigger in America though.

Union J are having hits in the UK? I do not agree with that. Their record sales are absolutely appalling.

It reminds me of one rock song from the 80s...I think it could be 'Pour some sugar on me' by Def Lepard. The chorus certainly fits anyway. Is there another 80s song that it sounds more like? It's bugging me...

There's no such thing as a flop when your album has sold as much as theirs has. Artists care about albums more than singles. Albums is where they make their money. It doesn't take a genius to realise that when an album has sold as much as One Direction's has, a third single from an album that most people already have is unlikely to do top the charts. People are obsessed with singles and seem to think that they equal the success of an artist. Bands, groups, artists etc would much rather have people but their album than singles. Hence why Beyonce released an album with a video for every track and no lead single. There's such a focus on singles, but it's albums that really equal success.

Yes, it is Pour Some sugar On Me, even the media reported about that.

I don't like the song all that much: along with Alive and Diana they were clearly going for this big 80s power rock sound and that's my least favourite of their 'new sounds'. Thought it was too noisy and loud for radio but I heard it on Radio 1 yesterday and it sounded ok. I think they should have released Happily - it's a nice poppy tune to bop along to in the car. Or Through The Dark which would build on Story of My Life success.

The video isn't beloved by fans at all, surprised it has had that few views though.

Grrr! 'Pour Some Sugar On Me' is mine and my pals' party tune - I'm annoyed the One Direction people or whoever wrote it have ripped it off!

I originally heard it on Capital Scotland, but looking at web searches it's actually that 1D want him to write, but apparently him and Liam are friends so I can see it happening

Based on population 1D are more sucessful in the UK than US album wise.
