Which novel and/or non-fiction book would you like to see on screen?
My list:
Lost In Place: Growing Up Absurd in Suburbia - Mark Salzman (non-fiction)
A funny memoir of his years as a young boy growing up during the 1970s (a.k.a. the age of Bruce Lee, Ozzy Osborne and Kung Fu).
House of Leaves - Mark Z Danielewski (fiction)
A psychological horror novel that's laid out in an increasingly claustrophobic pattern along with numerous footnotes and the heavy use of typography. I don't particularly like this novel, but I'm curious to see how one could adapt it to screen. I don't think it's possible, but then again, it's possible.
The Victorian Clown - Ann Featherstone (non-fiction)
It heavily revolves around James Frowde's account of his young life as a clown with the famous Henglers circus during the 1850s in England. It'd be good if it's similar to Lost Empires, starring Colin Firth and Laurence Olivier, based on J.B. Priestley's novel of same title.

Many have tried (inc. Lynch, Bertolucci) but it seems destined to never get off the ground. Thomas himself has even written a book about his part in its failure to launch. Someday, perhaps.
btw - the closest Hollywood has got to something like TWH is, weirdly, Titanic. That film filtered fictional relationships through an epic historic tragedy that dovetails into fantasy in a way vaguely similar to the Thomas novel (the tragedy the book deals with, however, is the nazi holocaust). I've sometimes wondered if the book was an influence.
There is a 1922 silent version but that no longer seems to exist.
But there seems to be an Australian version from 2010 which I have only just found out about. But no Hollywood version.
When I read House of Leaves I did think that this could potentially make a great and very creepy movie. But yeah, only by using elements from the book.
I can think of a few Stephen King stories that I'd like to see adapted that haven't been already. Would love to see a 11.22.63 movie or Revival could make a good one.

RAINBOW SIX (still up in the air unfortunately)
However I can only think of one book I've liked that was better as a film than as a book - A Most Wanted Man.
I have the urge to read them again now...
I agree with you about The Bridge...currently reading The Quarry, not sure about it really.
