Steve9214 - I think this is a fairly recent phenomena in advertising - the advertisers and the people who have the product don't seem to care whether people like it or not as long as the advert is so odd or annoying that people notice it and talk about it.
Yep I've noticed the same thing, the gocompare ads amongst others are a perfect example of this. They obviously work on the premise that if its odd/annoying people will be more likely to remember it, which kind of makes sense actually from an advertisers point of view. I suppose it depends on the product being sold as well though and who the target demographic is, for example a car ad needs to attract you to the car so the ad just being annoying/odd wouldn't really work.
They are mostly for websites to do with money if you think about it - moneysupermarket, and all the insurance ones, or holiday comparison ones. They aren't selling you a product per se, but trying to get you to a website where you will buy a service/product.
Songs work really well in adverts for remembering things - in NI we had an ad years and years ago which I still remember -
"If your windscreens in need of a fix, in the city or out in the sticks,
We'll be here to fix it call 0800 36 36 36"
No idea if the company still exists, but if my windscreen ever shatters that'll be the first thing I'll try!
It's a really rubbish advert, terrible script, bad acting and a lousy costume. The Admiral is clearly and always was a man. Imagine Scottish Widows changed to a widower, you never see advertising gender-reassignment go the other way.
Well, I would be all for a widower. .however are Scottish Widows still going? Been a while since I've noticed an ad.
She's very pretty indeed. Especially in that Special K advert.
Looks like she's quite a veteran when it comes to appearing in adverts. Like Cordelia Bugeja, who seemed to be in every second advert on TV at one point in time.
Why do company icons that were always male often get changed to female ? Wasn't there a time the Bradford and Bingley men suddenly became women too ? Still in bowler hats. It just looks stupid, there have never been Admirals in that costume era that were women (yes, there are now I know), and as for Bradford and Bingley you don't often get women dressed in suits and bowler hats. If the icon was neutral looking and never defined as male or female, then fine, but why change those that are dressed in male outfits ? I am expecting a woman soon to play Captain Birdseye, complete with a beard.

I remember her. She seemed crazy.
Encouraging assault? Bet your family are proud of you.
Rachel Shelley?
I don't know the actress's name or if it is definitely the same woman.
She looks similar to me.
I thought that when I saw the advert, she is deffo MILF.
Not to me.

According to McCann Birmingham, the actress's name is Lucy Barker.
The Admiral ad is the first thing on her show reel

But not on imdb

Adverts don't get put on IMDB.
They do. They're put under Other Works. Just depends on whether people add the info or not.

Yes otherwise I'd like to know where my monthly direct debit is going!
Good work!
Can't see anything there that I've seen her in before though. I think I was mistaken. Sorry for asking the question!

Yes,she could never have served with Lord Nelson and Co.The people who ok'd the ad should be keel hauled.
She is, it's quite striking that she should stand out in an insurance advert dressed in an admirals uniform.
I actually look forward to seeing it
