Tablet wireless printer help

I got a Canon PIXMA MG2950 printer and I am trying to set it up with my iPad and android tablet but first it says printer not detected, then I made a direct connection but it wouldn't print what I wanted, then said the printer wasn't connected. I have followed the instructions but I'm getting nowhere. What do I do?

An obvious question but have you downloaded the PIXMA Printing Solutions app?

Are the printer and the tablets joined to the same Wi-Fi network?

My IP7250 seems to do that now and again, I have no idea why, but I use Android only. I wanted to print out a photo from my phone now and it came up with not detected.

Do you have a wifi router? Can't you just attach the printer to the network?

What specifically are you having problems with?

It's a nice idea to let everyone know what the solution was. It's amazing how often people find these pages on DS by Googling their problem.
