Someone in an interview, I think it was Barry Hearn said they have to go with whatever the fans decide. If the format will change because they pay to watch it. Like I say I think its mainly younger fans who have just started watching that don't like longer frames. My advice to them would be to watch something more suited to there needs. Snooker is like a game of chess. This idea of speeding it up is wrong and not what snooker is about.
I think there is a place for both. There are the big, long standing tournaments that should stick with the long game.
Players in the correct attire.
Then there are shorter competitions. More relaxed competitions like the PL and then the fun ones like Power Snooker.
It's similar to darts (PDC).
You have the world champs which is the longest format and uses sets.
Then you have the matchplay which is legs and probably counted as the second best to win.
Then you have the Grand Prix with the double in.
Then the PL and GSOD.
Some may not watch the PL because of the format and crowds. They may only tune in once a year for what they see and the big one to win.
Watching John do the max. I noticed the players on other table didn't even stop playing. I remember when they use to but I suppose that players are doing them so often now they dont bother.

Yep, it's all pretty much a regular event these days.
One of the lasting memories in snooker (for me) is of Bill Bill Werbeniuk coming over to Cliff Thorburn after his historic 147 at the Crucible and hugging him. It was such a once in a lifetime moment. So glad Bill was a part of it, may be rest in peace.
I've hardly managed to catch any of this this week I watched yesterday and today, and I think one evening last week, and that's it unfortunately. Been so busy...
Ooh! There's someone I know in the front row! About ten years ago I was at the Crucible and was sitting next to a bloke and we got chatting (in between frames, of course!) and every year since I've bumped into him at the Crucible. Every so often I see him in the front row of something.
I noticed this aswell. I thought maybe I missed a year....clearly not!
That's why you should always have a proper snooker journalist commentator in the Everton / Hendon / Yates mould to get the facts right, alongside an ex-player like Dennis who knows all the shots.
When did he say mark has never won the masters? I remember him saying he had in the semi-final match.
In the opening frame - the phrasing was he hadn't won any of the big three - then he corrected the error a little later. Think someone had a word in his shell-like...
Could be a late finish tonight if it goes the distance. A little surprised it's starting after 8pm - haven't they started the last session of the Worlds 7-7.30pm the last couple of years to avoid such a problem?

Yes, they've definitely moved the Worlds final earlier in recent years after that ridiculously late finish that year (was it the Dott/Robertson one? I think it must have been.)
Oh god, there goes JV again, getting all excited about a possible plant!

Bit of a result for Selby drawing the session, there were signs that Murphy might pull away, especially when he won the 50 minute sixth frame, the type of long, drawn out scrap Selby usually revels in.

I agree. I think it also cuts down on the innane chatter between the ex pros.
Hope they both get into more of a flow when they come back. Can't be doing with these 52min frames! I don't mind them sometimes if there's a good tactical battle going on but mostly they just drag
So a possible 11 frames left to play....I get the feeling it's going to a late night but I'm in it for the long haul. I need to see Selby win tonight, come on Mark Selby!!

Has it started yet?
What the hell
Ah.
It's a shame really, I was getting into it!
