NFC charging, any better solutions?

I was looking to see what I need to use nfc to charge my Note 3 & it seems I have to pay around £55 for the replacement case & battery cover AND I have to purchase the charging pad separately!!! Is this a joke

The pad is about £40 on ebay so that's like £100 for them both!!!

Why does the battery have NFC written on it if I still need to replace the case

Am I being thick here or do I definitely need both items to use wireless charging?

NFC has nothing at all to do with wireless charging, they are two totally different things.

NFC (near field communication) allows short range communication between devices.
Wireless charging (QI in the case of the Note 3) allows device charging over short distances using inductive electrical power transfer.

If you look elsewhere (amazon or ebay) you should be able to find a wireless charging reciever which fits inside the existing case of the phone over the battery so you don't have to buy a new case / back cover. You can also get QI charging pads for a lot less than the official one.
