Sorry if there has been a thread about this before(can't see one)
Anyway
This is fascinating, one of the pilots tonight said he left school at 16, worked as a chef for a while and then decided this wasn't for him and then became a pilot.....how? The program never went on to explain this remarkable turn around of how he managed this especially as he was still only 25.
It's a shame for wannabe pilots that it's such a difficult profession to get in to, but then maybe good for us passengers that we know that whoever's flying us off on our hols is dedicated.
Good point. I've never flown them - their reputation puts me off.
I'd like to hear more about Susi in future programmes.
I`ve flown RyanAir, EasyJet, Monarch, Thomas Cook, Thomson, Jet2. In my experience RyanAir are no worse than any of the others. In fact the worst was Thomas Cook and Monarch
At least with RyanAir you pay a bit less and it`s normally a short flight
I don't think they're oblivious to the dangers but it's so mountainous that if something goes wrong there's little they can do.
Catching this on +1.
If it goes wrong it's probably game over, very little room for error.
The alternative to game over probably isn't too pleasant either, in terrible pain, miles away from medical help for who knows how long.
I found this really insightful. Reminds me of all those tribes and communities that lkive off the land. Amazing that they take guns on planes as a matter of course! I would also love to know what happened to the chickens!!!

Those guys must be insane!

The New Zealander testing out the new airstrip :o and flying there visually because there are no co-ordinates doublé
Sorry
Madness, so interesting. My question:
The 25yr old pilot who said he left school at 16, was a chef for a while then decided to become a pilot....how did he do this?
I think that might be a case of ignorance is bliss!
These young pilots are amazing. I think they probably have the same qualities as the young pilots who took off in the first planes.
Good question.
Maybe operationally too expensive?
They are brave and perhaps naive and oblivious to the dangers.....oh to be young!

No they haven't. Whatever it is they'd have to pay me treble to be a passenger.
The pilots are doing it to up their flying hours.
