You'd hope so. I work in Hull quite regularly and have noticed speeds in parts of the city centre and university areas steadily decline over the last couple of years. There are even parts of the centre without DC.
Hull was one of the first cities EE did. I can only guess the delay might be down to backhaul issues.
For the uninitiated, Hull has its own Teleco, Kingston Communications, little or no BT or Virgin fibre as far as I know.
Perhaps KC are holding out for too much cash? I've no idea, that past point is just wild speculation!
Interestingly the fixed telecoms monopoly in Hull has lead to one of the highest uptakes of mobile broadband per capita, putting further strain on the mobile networks.
It's not all bad though,KC is *only* doing FTTP for residential fibre connections, with many enjoying 100mb+ - some up to 250. Anyway I digress.....
I still think it is bad 9 months after launch that Manchester still isn't properly covered and is very patchy in places. Vodafone had it solidly covered when they turned on Manchester.
Three coverage checker said maintenance would happen in my postcode on 3rd September, checked again today for any update and there is no maintenance planned now. Was hoping for a 4G update.

Although the three coverage checker no longer says anything about maintenance on the mast, it still says there will be according to roadworks.org. I don't think its any kind of 4G upgrade though, likely just a 3G boost.
omg three are annoying me now, i just checked the coverage checker for an update on 4G and its gone from coming to your area within 3 months to no availablity, has this happened to anybody else ? grr

My area today has squares missing and also it's lit up saying I get DC-HSPA (which I do); but it says not available.
Shouldn't every location have within 3 months (That was on the list).
The 4G coverage checker is broken, that's why you see blocks missing and places going from coverage to no coverage. The real life coverage has not changed.
Not so 'free' anymore as those upgrading phones recently have found out to their cost!
moral...keep your current phone and buy a new phone 'outright' !

Can you explain a bit more?
I got a HTC One X on contract for 30pm, free phone and on the one plan.
Then I bought a Nexus 5 outright and transitioned to a 15pm one plan.
so the maintenance carried out on the mbnl mast next to mu house wasn't much, they were there doing something but no improved 3G coverage or any 4G coverage broadcasting from it.
The speeds seem to have dropped too, was on the bridge near the mast and got around 4Mbps when usually at this time can get as close to 28Mbps.

Clearly didn't check my area you'd of hit 23-31meg

It's terrible. They should look into a re design asap.
Maybe. But we won't see 800Mhz in any areas until the end of the year/start of 2015.

At work and home in hull I regularly get over 20mb its far from crap.
Bearing in mind most broadband in hull is less 8mb, three's data coverage is already excellent and will only get better with 4g
