I like it when they have rival pubs, makes it more realistic, and comical :)

The Flying Horse. I think it's been referenced a few times, like the Weatherfield Arms. Not on the street.

Looking forward to it. Better than the bed hopping crap we are getting.

He has been in it before as a character named Duggie.

Years ago they used to feature another pub, think it must have been the Weatherfield Arms. Liz worked there.

He was good in Phoenix Nights but I think the regular compere spot at the Frog & Bucket in Manchester has gone to his head...

Went right off him when he used to present the afternoon slot on Key103... proper tool... >:(

I seem to recall a very similar story line some years ago, when it involved Jack Duckworth dressing up as a woman if I recall correctly.

bib: Yes. It was previously run by Stella Rigby, who used to appear in Corrie now and then, when Bet ran the Rovers.

And yes, more "comedy" capers beckon for Flipping Steve. "yawns"

Speaking as a previous landlord of The Flying Horse, back in the days when we regularly used to thrash those gut-lords from the Rovers, I hope the standards I helped set will continue to be adhered to.

I have high hopes too, must admit, especially now they've appointed a former Olympic swimmer as the new landlord.
He was bloody superb at Seoul in '88.
Although looking at the pic, he's certainly let himself go a tad since.

Now if they had a competition for Barmaid arm folding synchronized with eye rolling, the Rovers would win it easily!

I want to see Debbie Arnold again as Carole Evans (the landlady of the Weathy Arms) - she had a rival thing with Stella.

I was just going to say that. Was she unavailable perhaps? Maybe she would have been chosen if Stella was still at the helm or she could have faced off against Liz or Michelle, but I guess now that Steve is sort of running the place, they wanted another guy to go against him. So they chose Dean at the Flying Horse. Seems like just a short stint though.

He delivered Sally's car a few years back when Kevin won the money on the scratchcard.
