hi guys,
I'm hoping someone here can help me out ..
I'm looking for a surround sound system for my brother for Xmas. He has a ps4 so I need it to be compatible with that. I'm also on a budget of 100 quid, but I don't mind going over a little bit if it's a good one. As he has the ps4, it doesn't have to come with a DVD player or Blu Ray Player.
I've seen one or two on Argos.co.uk but they're old enough and I thought I'd come here and see if anyone had any ideas. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance folks.

So at the very least I think you will need something with an optical input that can decode both DTS and dolby digital.
I would buy it off you. I want one for myself too, but I'm not stuck to a budget for that one.
Does this surround sound system look good ??

*worth a look if you want to avoid lots of speaker wires laying around
Thanks for the recommendations. I don't know much about these but after a quick google, am I right in thinking it tries to replicate surround sound, but without the fuss of set up, wires and all that jazz, but usually isn't quite as good ??
I'm tempted by one of these now (one for me, and one for him)
Your'e correct. Though not as good as 5.1/7.1 full surround, some sound bars do an excellent job of making the sound feel as if your surrounded by it and the bass/sub woofer makes a world of difference to gaming and movies without the clutter of a proper AV receiver and speaker package.
Hmmm, thanks for the info. I have some more homework to do now.
You might also want to consider if the set-up has a headphone socket for those late night sessions.
and remember these sound bars make a world of difference to watching TV too. Even the most modern flat screen TV's sound awful using the inbuilt speakers so most people opt for a sound bar or full home cinema. I have noticed that some new models of flat screen now come with a free sound bar. It makes all the difference to your viewing pleasure
