A New Playstation Inititive

Sony invited members of its MVP program to take part in an exclusive event to be held in New York next month.

According to the email, the event will be held on February 13th from 3pm – 6:30pm ET at Gotham Hall, and is set to host the announcement of a 'new Playstation initiative'.

While Sony gave no hints as to what this new initiative might be, they have promised attendees the chance to play unreleased games and mingle with celebrities.

With February 13 also being the New 3DS release date, it would be a smart move on Sony's behalf to announce some exciting Vita news - but only time will tell what the event will hold.

The event is only available to those over 18, and will contain a free bar for those over 21.

Ooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh ........ New Playstation stuff. I'm excited :)

The word Inititive doesn't make it sound like a game. My guess is more of a service or hardware product.

Crash Bandicoot is owned by Activision now so any new game in the series is upto them.

Sony shut down studio Liverpool (Who developed Wipeout) a few years ago but most of that team recently formed a new studio (R8 Games) & there 1st game (Formula Fusion) looks like its basically Wipeout.

I always loved Wipeout so i'm really looking forward to that.

Destruction Derby would be cool, Loved those games back on PS1. There's a game coming on PC (From teh guys who did the Flatout games) which is very Destruction derby.

The early access is very short on content, But its a ton of fun.

    Plausible guesses -

    Project Morpheus?
    PlayStation Vue?
    Vita revision / relaunch?
    PS4 Slim or 1TB version?
    PlayStation branded phone / tablet?
    PS4 hardware backwards compatibility?
    New PS4 OS with suspend/resume & DLNA?

Wildcard guess - Nintendo are to leave the home console market and become a PS4 and 3DS developer. :p

    A little bit.

There was the Sony Erriccson Xperia Play which they launched in 2011-ish but they abandoned that quicker than they did the vita. I think there's some sort of Playstation-ness on the new phones tho.

    Project Morpheus?
They called this a new Inititive so I don't think it's about Morpheus as they've unveiled that already.
    PlayStation Vue?
    Same as above really
    Vita revision / relaunch?
Very possible. They are doing this the same day as the new 3DS launch so maybe !!
    PS4 Slim or 1TB version?
I doubt it'll be the slim so soon. Would a 1TB console warrant inviting people to New York to witness it?
    PlayStation branded phone / tablet?
Maybe. They did try the phone already and fail. And isn't their phone department losing them shit, odds of money?
    PS4 hardware backwards compatibility?
    Pppppfffttt .... You wish :)
    New PS4 OS with suspend/resume & DLNA?
Could be something firmware related like this. Good guess.

AWESOME !!! This is definitely it.

I have a z3, I can stream my ps4 to it. Never tried it, you can control it with a dual shock. I believe that ps now will work with it too.

It's an interesting idea. Looks to be US only though, at least for now.
