  I was watching in the Birmingham area on HD and it was only a VoiceOver speaking over the end credits. We didn't get a picture or birth/death year at the end.

  That's exactly what I saw too. As said, it must have been slightly different on HD.

  In the Yorkshire region, they wound down the music, showed a picture of Bill, and made the announcement that this episode was dedicated to him. It stayed up for the remainder of the titles...the theme remained quiet.
