King of Ink can't get a passport...

...because of the unusual name that he's now known by and not because of the way that he now looks as a result of years of tattoo work:

Britain’s most tattooed man has been refused a passport, but not because of his skin decorations - but his name. King of Ink Land King Body Art The Extreme Ink-Ite, 34, has been refused an ID renewal because of his unusual moniker, which he adopted by deed poll four years ago...Body Art, who has covered 90 per cent of his body in ink, including tattooing his left eyeball black, has spent more than £25,000 on his passion.

I'm not sure what to make of this but it's unfortunate that he's now voluntarily changed himself into a Bond villain. I suppose there'll be a Channel 5 documentary sometime this year.

What a bloody idiot! Get yourself a proper name and then you might get a passport, although I wouldn't give him one just for looking like a pillock.

Is it me, or is his Ajna tattoo both upside down and wonky?

Having a passport is not in the bill of human rights.

Who gets to decide what a 'proper' name is though?

There was a story last year of a Hawaiian woman who couldn't get a driving license becasue her name was too long for the computer software.
Should she just have changed her name to something more standard?

Luckily for her the system was updated and it worked out fine.

I thought she did have one but got into trouble because she got stopped by the police and it didn't have her full name on it.

I'm not sure of the exact details but it's was solved by them updating the computer software to allow more characters.

If you were born in Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateapokaiwhenuakitanatahu (and that's the shortened version) you could be struggling given some of the people that type names into computers these days.

I don't even want to contemplate how that was done.

If he was allowed a driving licence, then he should have a passport. He either gets denied for all such items or he gets them all.

Not sure this breaches his human rights though.

I will never understand why people feel the need to do that to themselves.

I don't get it either. I would say he's mentally ill.

Mathew Whelan / Body Art looks more like he campaigns for the BNP rather than the Lib Dems.

It's not a visually aesthetic thing to do, is it? :o ----> http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8v_myBYMl6w/TV68fjtcgXI/AAAAAAAAB5Q/IByz93rZChY/s1600/tattoo%2Bskull%2Bon%2Bface..jpg
