If X Files does come back with a limited 12 episode run (as with 24) then I can see them doing one long story arc rather than individual monster of the week episodes.
Could do a mixture of both I suppose with the first few episodes being MotW but with an underlying plot that becomes the main focus in the latter episodes.
The Avengers I've always thought could be brought back keeping the elements that made it work but modernise it in the same way they did it with Doctor Who and James Bond. I'm not sure whether it would be a reboot or a sequel series similar to The New Avengers,
To me Patrick McNee is John Steed and I just couldn't accept anyone else in the role. Nobody can match his charm and charisma.
