I've done this with Linux. In the Ubuntu connection manager, you just set it to "shared with other computers" under IPv4 connections on the wired side, then anything connected will route through.

Windows is a case of enabling Internet Connection Sharing on the adapter, although I'm not sure whether it's on the wireless or wired side, and I've never set this up myself.

You're better off with a dedicated device, as laptops have a habit of getting bored and going to sleep. (I will re-recommend the TP-Link WA701ND)

What is "samsung anytime+ one device"? Google has failed me on this one, nothing saying what it actually is! Why do you suppose it might work?

To use Anynet+ on a TV and an external device, both the television and external device must have the Anynet+ feature.
That sounds like a no to me.

Many thanks, I must have been stupid to think that "anynet" meant any device. Surely it should be called "samsung net"

I also humbly apologise for troubling this forum. I bought this box in expectation of iplayer functionality (currently at 161) and emailed the channel zero website some months ago for updated firmware with no response.

I would also be very grateful for a copy of the updated firmware.

Hi,

Thanks to Kasg, I have now installed the 225 updated firmware for this box. It installed without problems.

There are other services besides iplayer, but nothing to get too excited about at the moment.

The only thing I would mention (which won't apply the the vast majority on this forum) is that since my TV went on the blink, I've put an old PC in the lounge to use as a temporary screen (via a tuner card) until I organise a repair or replacement.

The screen is 4:3 and the format controls don't work with iplayer. Everything is horizontally squashed. I tried an old film (i.e shot in 4:3), but it is also squashed.; So it appears that all iplayer material is formatted for 16:9 and neither the software or box can reformat it.

Happy to hear if anyone can contradict me, but it only encourages me to sort out the TV - before I have to change my user name!

Normal broadcasts are still controlled in the TV menu or 'wide' button for correct formatting.

If I understood you correctly:
- you are viewing on a PC with a 4:3 screen
- you have the Technika box connected to the Internet and are using it to watch iPlayer on your PC
- the 16:9 picture from iPlayer looks squashed on the PC screen

Why not connect the PC to the Internet and use it directly to watch iPlayer with a browser? Like all the rest of us with a 4:3 PC screen you will see the proper widescreen picture with black bands top and bottom.
