The lower-class people in Titanic, especially the mother tucking her children into bed as she resigns herself to their fate, and the woman with a baby, asking where she should go, only to be ignored. It's even worse because this kind of stuff actually happened
Littlefoot's mother in The Land Before Time, very reminiscent of Bambi. "Mother! Mother!"
I agree with both of these, especially the former. I think those scenes upset me more than Jack's death, and as you say it's made worse because that sort of thing actually happened.
I would also like to add the death of Margaret in Million Dollar Baby, and Trevor's death in Pay it Forward. Both scenes get the waterworks going for me.
My choice would be Marge in Jaws 2. She's the quiet girl who looks after young Sean Brody, she throws herself in the water to push Sean back onto the boat after falling in. She struggles to get herself back on, we then see the shark rise from behind and pull back down with Marge nowhere to be seen - presumed swallowed whole.
It shocks and disturbs me every time I see it, she's one of those characters that seems so innocent and likable. The music is suitably dramatic.
Strangely, I also held a torch for poor 'ole Marge too! I read that somewhere theres an alternative scene, where both Marge & the helicopter pilot survive the shark attacks & hide underwater with an air tank, waiting for the shark to pass, a la Richard Dreyfuss in Jaws... I think the original carries more punch though.

The first one that came to my mind was Leonardo DiCaprio's character in Blood Diamond. Mostly cause it's my favourite film and you grow to love Danny throughout the film despite him being such an ass

I agree with the sentiment, but her irish accent was so bad, I could only focus on that

I've not heard of that deleted scene, there is one on the dvd where we see the shark attack the helicopter pilot underwater.
There also this Jaws 2 deleted scene but as far as i'm aware the actual scene is not available anywhere:
David Essex in Silver Dream Racer..I was 15 at the time and totally besotted with David Essex..although we didn't actually see the death it made me cry at the end every one of the 10 times or so I went to see it..:o
Another vote for John Coffey in 'The Green Mile'. I cried all the water out of my body watching that.
And Cyrano in 'Cyrano De Bergerac' (the Gerard Depardieu version). I'm sure there something wrong with the cinemas air-conditioning as my eyes were streaming.
Tom Hanks in Philadelphia, the final scene when you hear Neil Young start to sing and the family are watching Tom on a home movie as a young boy, happy and healthy. I have seen it twice and really sob at the end.
this is the one and only film my hubby ever had a cry at
me..I'll cry at any death in a film..the one that had me howling most recently was when a friend bought me the Notebook on dvd and I cried at the end
