Swing of 7% from SNP to Lab. Great result that. SNP activists booing Cara Hilton 's speech. Cries of "shame" and "pathetic" - project fear? Also interesting is the dwindling Lib Dem vote.

Dwindling? It will be almost non-existent at the next GE.
I'm sure that was the thought of many about the Welsh by-election for Anglesey a few weeks back.
UKIP 3.75%
Turnout down about 6,000
You forgot to mention the SNP.
It will cost me a hundred quid, but I'll happily swap my wager to see a distraught Salmond the morning after the referendum.
Labour 42.5%
SNP 30.6
LD 11.8
Con 8.3
EIP 3.75

SNP - 6.99%
Lab + 6.89%

UKIP + 3.75%
Same here, an the coservatives seem to have increased their share:cool:
Diversion!
Nope, entirely related to the by-election campaign
Indeed, and worth noting that UKIP have continued their track record of 100% deposit losses in Scotland.
Yes, lets all talk about UKIP and the Greens.
Thats the big news to come out of this by-election.
Is there any big news (or anything unexpected) in this by-election? I'm friends with a Labour campaigner who was all over Facebook last night, confident that it was in the bag (and she'd been over in Dunfermline campaigning).
No big news, but it confirms the Conservatives are supported by only 1:12 of people in Scotland and hardly anyone thinks UKIP is relevant.
No it doesn't... it confirms 1:12 of those who voted in Dunfermline supported the Conservatives.
What a saddo.
So you knew that the SNP were going to lose a lot of their support?
Thats not what I expected judging from the various threads on Scottish politics here.
That loss must be more than something to do with local politics in Dunfermline. If you are a Nationalist local issues aren't going to affect your beliefs.
No, where have I said that?
I wonder why the conservative support is so low, is there an over reliance on state handouts up there?
did you mean food banks?
You said that the result was "no big news".
So I assumed from that you were expecting the SNP to lose a lot of their support.
No, I mean conservatives tend to have high support in affluent areas and Labour in depressed areas.
So, I am asking what is the local economy like?
Is there an over reliance on benefits?
