You can't trust The Daily Mirror to tell the truth
Just imagine the outrage on the Digital Spy Politics Forum if the Daily Mail had done this:

Whilst the story is genuine and newsworthy, it was incredibly stupid of the Mirror to use a stock photo from a photo agency that shows an American girl who got upset on a walk through a park or whatever. That deception has now become the story instead of the real news item. Mirror = numpties.
The Mirror is just as bad as the Daily Mail for falsifying stories, and this is a prime example, but for some reason the DM 'stories' are acceptable but not the Mirrors, IMO anything the DM or the Mirror reports should be taken with a pinch of salt until verified as being accurate.
What are your thoughts about the increasing reliance on food handouts in our country? Do you think the government should be doing something about it?
A massive own goal for the Mirror and a gift for the DWP, Hopkins et al.
You can not just go to a food bank for free food. You need a doctor's note or someone who knows everything about you!!! You then get a Green ticket? or something like that.
Never Trust what the DWP say or the Dail Hail or the Mirror in this case. BUT what is going on, is a disgrace in this day and age in our country.
The TORIES want with the lib Dem's help to move people from there homes, they want and doing very big harm to geniune sick people at the same time robbing me the little taxpaper by cheating on there expences. I even payed for this Prime Minister's expence to get rid of something growning up his home.
The Prime Minister should have gone to jail, BUT we all new that would not happen. So Labour, Tory, Lib Den just had a few of them sent to prison to please us the voter.
Are You Pleased?
I thought that was The Sun?
It is best to be sceptical of everything you read in the press, and very sceptical of anything a politician tell you. A politician writing an opinion piece in a newspaper is good for nothing but toilet tissue.
And Fool on anyone who takes what the DWP say at face value
It makes a change from vilifying those desperate enough to have to use these food banks I suppose.
Near a million food packages in just the last year, shame on this country.
You read an article when you happen to know the actual story and what was half truths and innuendo is now just lies.
You think people should stop giving to charity?
Why?
Of course you do.
The million packages, the 50% increase in usage are fact, and they're not going to go away with desperate little attempts at diversion like this.
Of course I do what?
What are you talking about?
Was this a Mirror/Labour plot designed to overshadow the good news on the economy and employment that was due to be released today.
I don't know that they need a special day. But who knows.
I don't think mirror readers care about inflation and wages
Now that's an interesting question.
Giving to a charity is a clinical/sanitised way of helping those who are suffering - right in front of your eyes. For many people, interaction with the very poor is simply too difficult or too distressing. It seems to me that this is why you are not going to see a picture of a hungry child illustrating a Food Bank story, or a picture of a very distressed person, unable to repay a small loan taken to buy food, being used to illustrate a story about High Street PayDay Loan shops.
For many people, the truth is simply too hard for them to bear. I could have more patience with this outlook if they were not gorging on the Faux Empathy provided by entertainment such as Les Miserables.
Very strange indeed.
