Good films that didn't do amazing at the box office?

Can anyone list some good films from recent years that didn't do amazing at the box office? Whether the budget was big or small (not necessarily flops.)

I am asking because I am looking for recent films that are not well known. I have watched loads, and so I'm looking for movies that I missed because I never heard of them.

The Fall, directed by Tarsem Singh, is absolutely brilliant. Didn't get a wide release for some reason.

Motherhood was, I think, the definition of a flop.

A modern classic though, that did not do that well at the cinema but gained cult status later is The Shawshank Redemption.

No i want to aswell, i'm still praying. Books 4 - 6 would have done well in a film.

The Shawshank Redemption didn't do terribly well at the box office, especially in the US, but went on to become one of the most popular films of all time...:)

Going back a while but but "Being There" was never going to be a commercial hit but is a great film.

Also (more recent) "Good Night and Good Luck."

From this year the Ian Dury biopic was outstanding but was only one for a week (if that) at the 'big' cinemas before being pushed out by some more cookie cutter Hollywood garbage.
