I've got a beautiful view of it outside of the window, it distracted me when the OH was talking to me and now he's sulking because I'm much more interested in the moon
Really clear view here too.
I was thinking about why the moon was round and how strong a force gravity is to push it into a round shape. Then I got to thinking how is it we aren't all round ?
If gravity can squash a planet, why doesn't it squash us into little round objects ?
I've just been looking at it through binoculars. It looks fantastic! I wish I had a telescope to hand.
Binoculars are actually still quite good because you can see seas (they really were once liquid seas but of hot lava), mountain chains, craters and so on.
Noticed it on the way home from work as it looked amazing.
Incidentally, a colleague of mine (of Hong Kong extraction) brought in some "Mooncakes". He said they were a delicacy given away at this time of year.
I had a slice and it was absolutely rank! It's made of lard, lotus seed paste and salted duck eggs. It just tasted of very strong, dry egg yolk.

The full Moon was actually in the early hours of this morning (9.9.14) - about 10 degrees past now.
One looking Earth-wise and two or three surveying the nearby surface.
Sneaky peeks of the Clangers would be amazing.
Maybe the next (unmanned) mission could oblige.
