Just told my brother who I would be voting for on Thursday...

..and he literally freaked out!

Myself, my sister and my brother were all at my mother's house and my sister asked me how I would be voting on Thursday, I told her I would be voting no, my sister said she'd also be voting no as she had to think of her daughters futures. Upon hearing this my brother began shouting at us calling us stupid and telling us that people like us would ruin Scotland. I tried telling him the reasons why I would be voting no, including the issues with the currency, no Nato membership etc. He persisted to call me and my sister stupid and told me I would get no job (I was filling out an application form at the time) as I'm stupid. :)

I know he is passionate about Scotland but I never expected him to react like this! It has just made me realise how some people seem blinded by the SNP lies.

Everyone in Scotland seems to have strong opinions on this. I don't blame them at all but my friend who is a GP in Scotland had a tirade of abuse on her doorstep the other day from the 'Yes' campaigners when she told them she was undecided. I think it actually made her want to vote 'No' just to annoy them!

My neighbour was telling me that he went to collect his car from a garage he had used for many years. When he saw his car it had a couple of Yes stickers on it. When he asked why, the mechanic told him it was because he didn’t have any and he “put things right.”
When he tried to remove them he got a torrent of abuse and was called a traitor. The owner came out and asked what the trouble was and my neighbour explained and the owner supported the mechanic! My neighbour was told “his sort” weren’t welcome anymore.
The ironic thing was that he intended voting yes, he just didn’t want his car covered in stickers without his permission.

So really its not a thread about your relationship with your brother but just another "Im voting no and I want to tell people whilst at the same time belittling the other side to make myself feel better"

Perhaps your brother knows you better than you think?;-)

I don't see how staying in the union would ruin anything. Scotland would be gaining from staying. I only see negatives in the alternative. I am sorry, but it seems like your brother is the stupid one.

I told him that too but he isn't one for listening to other people's opinions.

This is why 'no' will win - many are too scared to openly admit they'd rather keep the union.

I had a barrage of abuse at the supermarket because of my Yes stickers on my car. An elderly English gent with his wife took offence! He was shouting "You'll not know what'll hit you if you get it. You'll be begging us, BEGGING us to come back". I just ignored the old codger! :D

Loads of stories like this, it's really quite sad! My friends wedding photographer took a video of the abuse he got for having a no sticker on his car, he was even pinned up against a wall by his neck and called a traitor.

I'm getting sick of tired of being told I'm not patriotic because I'm voting No, absolute nonsense.

I do find it quite funny that a country who benefits from tourism are abusing the no voters and telling them to f... Off to England - no one will want to come visit such a hostile place.

And your brother is right. If the "no" campaign wins, it will be mainly down to women and the elderly, whose constant hand-wringing and naive acceptance of Westminster's scare campaign will lead to the ultimate downfall of Scotland. Gullible as you like. :(

Thanks, that's very gracious of you to admit that. :)

Your own situation is not the whole country its just you

perhaps the issue lies with who you are and the way you behave?

The way I behave? My friends wedding photographer was abused not me :/

I know loads of people who's families have turned their back on other family members who are voting No, one of my friends has lied and said she is voting yes to stop the non stop abuse from her brother . My eldest daughter has shut her Facebook page because she is sick of all the anti English posts and quite rightly they upset her, her father is English.

I suffer from incredible social anxiety and keep myself to myself, that's how I behave.

I've just heard a lady on the radio whose daughter has lived and worked in Scotland for several years having moved up there from England to work for an American firm.

She loved it until recently and said the whole atmosphere has changed and she is abused by people in shops Etc when they hear her English accent. They tell her to get back to her own country.

She has been so upset by this that she has been making the 8 hr+ drive home on Friday night to spend the weekends here as she feels so hated.

will be amusing to see Salmonds smug face if the vote goes against him. Of course, he's finished if it does.

There's a rather hilarious article in today's Guardian by that silver-spoon Socialist Billy Bragg in which he goes to great lengths to explain why Scottish nationalism is absolutely nothing like British nationalism...

He's really not. It's not like independence was the SNPs sole policy.

Its still just your own opinion and not really good enough to brand a nation or somehow extrapolate your personal experience to all of Scotland and say that its representative?

Shutting down Facebook is a good idea in general so thats a positive

Wow you yes lot are deluded, it is really sad to see people that really should be able to use their heads, being taken in by a bunch of lies...

Please tell me. Exactly what and how are the SNP going to make Scotland better...

They already keep repeating a lie, they keep lying to the Electorate about them getting a CU, which has already been ruled out by the UK as it is not in our interests...

Do you believe the SNP when they came out with scare stories about the Scottish NHS?

What? Such a comment just because the poster you quoted made a claim that people won't admit to voting no because of the fear of abuse?

Maybe there is something to the whole 'yes voters are abusive' thing.
