Can't believe the comms still going on about are bowling being light in this match. It maybe true in general, but in this match as a unit they bowled very well. Couldn't understand the Lankan passivity, reckon they're about 70-100 runs short genuinely.

Once again Rashid shows that he is a better bowler than Ali

Well that's nice, I've never doubted he's a better one-day bowler than Moeen though, He's only just started proving it in ODIs, his record is still worse, but I concede his variations make for a better bowler in this type. So nice point you are making I'm sure, in your relentless and never boring way.

I still remember when you were this persistent about Stuart Broad.

Ali is a good county pro.

Yes. and I have been proved right.

I was surprised that Jason Roy got man of the match yesterday

Surely it should have been Hales ?

i think Roy's fielding and the runout he got just tipped the balance

How exactly was Sulla proved right about Broad when he slagged him off again and again, and now he's a top-class bowler, and he;s been pretty good for 5 years whilst Sulla kept on saying he should be dropped, nevermind, what the ignore list was invented for I suppose....

Also in the end Hales only outscored Roy when the pressure was off and the game was won, Roy was the dominant player when the match was live.

I don't know if it was a throwaway remark, but as they made the award, they said it was on the toss of a coin between them. I don't see why they can't share these things sometimes.

England win the toss and invite Sri Lanka to bat

Jordan and Shanaka in for Moeen and Randiv

Spreads calling SL runs at 247 - 257

Think that may be a bit low but no involvement for me until the first hour has gone

SL total 248. England reply delayed by rain.

The future of the game is being discussed on Tuesday. It is disappointing to hear Vaughan continually call it a product - a bugbear of mine.

It is called a sport - it is not a business.

Getting it back on terrestrial tv could be start.

It has to make money. In that respect it is a business. Ask your local county if money is important to them. Putting it on terrestrial tv would cost the counties a fortune. More viewers doesn't equate to doing well financially

Anyway, isn't the meeting regards the test structure ?

A lot more according to this article.

I think that some sharing of coverage could be the best for all parties. I think the Champions League in football prospered as it was on both Sky and ITV.

I would use T20 on terrestrial/SKY as a means of getting the new generation into the game.

Growing tomatoes on your windowsill is not a business.
Growing tomatoes on a farm to sell in Morrisons is a business.

Taking your partner to work is not a business.
Taking other people's partners to work for payment is a business.

Setting some stumps in a park for a game with friends is not a business.
Setting some stumps inside a purpose built venue on 20 acres of land, then paying people to play, and paying various support staff, and for safety certificates, and a bloody big electric bill for something like 1,000kW of floodlights is a business.

Pakistan look so out of their depth in the women odi series.
Not sure england learnt anything meaningful from this series.

Dani Wyatt amazes me, she's clearly a nice girl (and a looker to boot), but what does she actually "do" cricket wise.

A specialist fielder plus good egg doesn't really cut it, or shouldn't.

I was impressed by the segments on Sky with their training, it certainly seems there's a big progression in the game particularly in fitness.

    i've kinda thought the same

she does seem to be there to make up the numbers which in international cricket seems a bit odd

she is very cute tho

Shame about the rain as Sri Lanka have made their best start to a game this 'summer'

127/1 off 18 when the covers came on

Sri Lanka back on in a reduced game of 42 overs and going well

Hales has an issue with his back and is off the field. Will bat at 7 if needed

I have always been a fan of Broad even though he has occasionally disappointed.

When did I suggest he be dropped ? Show me some posts

He is not on my ignore list and I am not on his ignore list
