:D I know, the doorbell off sounds a bit mean, but we live in a secure block of flats and so people ring the door buzzers to get in - didn't want it going off when Laura was in bed :D ... or at all really :D

I have to say, in desperation in the past I have even been known to hide the phone under a pile of pillows to mute the sound.....this was of course before the advent of mobiles :p Mine's almost always on ''vibrate'' :D Got to keep the world at bay somehow

    Good morning all :)

I must remember to turn my doorbell back on :D

It's funny with halloween. I've lived in the States and seen it done really really well. Over the years I've seen it become done here, but not as well. When I was a kid here in the UK I don't remember people doing anything for Halloween at all, so in my mind it's something that we've taken on board from the USA.

This is one reality show I do enjoy :) Laura loves seeing all the bug trials :D Strange kid lol

I'll eat it, I'm too fat to care now :D

Funny, we are around the same age - I don't remember it at all from my younger years in the UK (and certainly not from when we lived in Africa, although I do from Mexico).

We never went trick or treating as a child...it was only ever the jack o lanterns., often carved from a turnip, as pumpkins werent on sale......and apple bobbing at home in the garden...

the whole atmosphere of the festval has changed tho......its become a lot more commercialised...and more about dressing up and trick or treating....

Do you know why I'm angry about the talk of making another Star Wars film... well let me tell you why :D

The 6 films were a story - from beginning to end. Darth Vader started out as Anakin Skywalker until he went to the Dark Side (3rd 3 films). His kids were brought up separately so that he couldn't find them. They eventually found out who he was, found each other, they conquered the Alliance (first 3 films). Darth Vader dies but makes peace with son at the end.

So now I hear talk about a new film, even people talking about bringing back Darth Vader. Erm... he died??? Let's not let this fact get in the way of a few $million.

I loved these films; before these films I hated science fiction, hated anything about space - but one day I heard them do Star Wars on the radio believe it or not (Radio 1 I think) and it got my imagination picturing everything, so I rented the films and presto, that was it, I was hooked.

Now, if they make new films with a new story loop - say Han/Leia's kids, then that's fine, I'd be happy with that, but please don't talk about reviving dead characters, it makes all fans look stupid, makes the first 6 films seem utterly pointless and is an insult to anybody who really loves these films.

Yesterday reading Metro paper on the bus I read an article about Opinsy and an interview with the creaters of the website. I've just joined it. It's, in their words, a You Tube for opinions. You just agree or disagree with an opinion (Yes/No buttons), can add a remark and join a discussion or not, or start your own. On any subject. I quite like it :D

I totally agree with you. I have never liked the most recent 3- actually now I think of it, I don't think I saw the last one. The only good thing that came out of them was Nathalie Portman. The acting by everybody else was appalling. However, if you look back on the original 3, the acting wasn't up to much in them either - cringeworthy sometimes, and the script was pretty naff but there was something very magical about them - and no, I don't mean the special effects which were very good. The story was a classic good vs evil with the old father/son struggle and the love story as well, together with all the lovely creatures, especially the Ewoks.

Star Wars fanatics seem to have pretty mixed views about it all - some say, more and more and more Star Wars please in whatever form - and others, like you Ali, are pretty upset about it.

I don't listen to Danny Baker on the radio, but what they did to him is pretty bad - not even telling him his shows have been cut, he reads it in the paper! It's all about money - he's being induced in some Hall of Fame or other next week lol.

It sounds like they are cutting so much BBC local radio and making most of the shows national; as Danny Baker he says (I'm listing to some clips from today that Dara O'Brien tweeted - you want to save money, get rid of some of the useless unnecessary middle management.

Not just the BBC. We usually have Heart radio on first thing in the morning - the weekends are now national programmes which takes away the whole point of 'local' radio. Emma Willis is one of the presenters - total crap radio presenter. Everything is going down the tubes. Planet Rock is up for sale. I'm hoping Richard Branson will buy it and leave it as it.

I must stop getting involved in soaps I'm not really that interested in :o
Hey, wait a minute that's how I got dragged into DS :p

    Re: Hollyoaks:
I'm sure none of you watch it but it's a hangover, like Neighbours, from the kids -
I hate the bullying story that's going on at the moment.
I feel like throwing something at the TV.
Trouble is, even though you know it's not real, it is so like a lot of stories you hear from your kids that are real. :(

Has anyone seen the pics of Josie dressed in a skeleton costume?

According to that she's only lost 2 stone - which makes the joke in CT even funnier :p
How sad that Josie had to lose all that weight to get this much attention? A long way from the lovable girl in BB.

Query: how do you play a genie when you don't fit the profile any more? ;)
