I am a former npower customer and received a letter today with these details
Recently we've been discussing with Consumer Focus (the consumer watchdog) some changes we made in 2007 to the way we charged for gas and have taken the decision to send you a one-off payment relating to your charges at that time.

As you've changed supplier since 2007 we can't send you your payment until we've confirmed your current name and address details. So please go to the secure form we've set up on our website at www.npower.com/yourdetails.

Once we've confirmed your details we'll send you your payment in the form of a letter that you'll be able to redeem for cash at your local Post Office.
That webpage also has
Believe you may be entitled to...

If you’d like to contact us regarding payments but haven’t yet received a letter from us please complete this form and we’ll respond to you within 28 days

The following information is needed to complete this form

* - Name & address of affected property
* - Dates of occupancy
* - Gas Account Number
* - Email address

I also found a page on the consumerfocus website with more information

    Aren't they just paying back some of the money they ripped off from their customers....
    as recently told to do so? :cool:

    I got one of these and am getting a refund of £35.

    This was a nice surprise. I am also unsure how they get to this figure. I have been with nPower for 4 years and contrary to what others have stated, I have found them to be very good.

    They were also the cheapest every year I have done a comparison so not sure really where this rebate has come from....
