Without a price, it could be £50 or without knowing the network, I can't comment.

Presumably it's offered on the basis that most people won't use much of the allowance.

If it is Tesco's..It's £10 a month. They use the O2 network.

Only downside is high cost out of allowance data/mins/texts

Hardly........a lot don't have home internet.

Just using my phone for radio during work will blast that in a couple of days. Stick to £15 unlimited thankyooverymuch.

1gb is enough mobile data for me. 75% of the time the phone's on wifi.

I use about 2GB a month of my 2.5GB allowance as I download a lot of podcasts over 3G, stream and sync email, upload video and pictures and browse.

1GB wouldn't be enough for me, I also wouldn't be satisfied with the 3G coverage level. It's a nice cheap deal for somebody, but not right for me.

I pay £10 a month on a 30 day rolling, but mine is a retention deal / special. 300 mins or texts, 2.5 gigs of data, 3,000 3-3 minutes.

You seem to extrapolate a big assumption based on your own situation.

Quick search shows 76% of people have home broadband.

Average data download per user is around 1GB though the stats show that average is bumped up by a smaller percentage of high volume users and people not switching to wifi where available.

I would say that a quarter is ''a lot''......... And if they are less than 1 gb per month, they probably don't ''need'' a smart phone with internet connection.

Not really got a mw reception and no DAB......

I am guessing the majority of the 1/4 without home broadband probably don't care about having broadband.

we will see with 4G if it become a viable alternative to home broadband.
