However I don't think capitalism is such proving to be such a great system either.
I think, as with most things, the best system probably lies somewhere in the middle. A free (but somewhat controlled) market with some socialist underpinnings.
Its just a matter of trying to find that right balance (and that's the hard part!)
Wow, there's a lot of Amanda lovers at the bottom of that piece!!
Yes, their sanity is doubtful. See here:

I don't think anyone would turn down the chance to earn that amount of money for doing their job. I certainly wouldn't, not that there is much chance of that!
She is obviously being offered such a lucrative deal, because cbs feel that she will be an asset to their viewing figures.
Good on anyone who can make that sort of money.
I wouldn't want a socialist society, and it would never ever work in the capacity which the OP is talking about. However, it does amaze me that people would be willing to part with so much cash for Amanda Holden. It amazes me that anyone is interested in her at all.

It's all about market forces. Just because a few hundred people on a showbiz forum are outspoken in their dislike for certain celebrities, if others are willing to buy papers and magazines and watch the TV programmes or films that they appear in, they they will continue to appear. As soon as that interest declines, so will their value.
It makes me laugh when people complain about celebrities and footballers earning so much. How do you think they get the money in the first place?
It's because "poor" people keep
buying the gossip magazines
buying the tat advertized on tv
buying the season tickets
subscribing to the sky tv
etc etc.
I don't. Got many vices but funding these people's incomes ain't one of 'em! (and no, I'm not saying I deserve a round of applause for being smart - and that wasn't reverse psychology btw!)
She is sucking up Simon Cowells A$s, thats the only reason we see her on tele. As far as im concerned she just used Les Dennis to get in the public eye, dont really like her.

They may be insane but they know a good "collum" when they see it.
I cannot see what her presence brings to any TV show.

Quite. And if it isn't the above, it is scratchcards, cheap cider and cigarettes.
They they complain they are skint!!
