Just watching Mock The Week on Dave. Only just realized they use a mic with stand during the stand up bit. Why? Considering they're already mic'd up, which you can blatantly see.

TV is so fake lol.

It's more or less stand-up tradition to have a mic stand. It's not needed, no, but it's traditional.

Notice the question mark after the word 'why'? <<Look there's another one in case you don't know what one looks like.

Some comedians like the mic stand. Some take the hand held mic and move the stand away.

Yes but that doesn'tchange the fact they already have a mic attached to their clothing.

I was making a point about the fakery of tv. Nevermind.

Well you asked why, and people answered why. How else was the thread going to go?

It's a prop to add a touch of the experience of being at a stand up gig.

Because many comedians like to perform into a microphone (even if that mic isn't connected up)

It's got nothing to do with TV being faked

It's not fakery. Most stand ups still use a handheld mic.

Chris Addison is not a comedian. Comedians are supposed to be funny.

It's also to make the point that only one of them is supposed to perform at a time. As compared to the panel sections which are more of a free for all. Presumably their worn mics are switched off for the stand-up.

They leave the mics on as sometimes they do interact and laugh. I guess they are respectful of the comedian and keep quiet in the background.

You see a lot more of the interaction in the compilation shows.
