I don't bet on it, it's far too random for my liking.

I think Tea For Three will take some beating. The way he jumped at Cheltenham was outstanding and he is carrying less weight than last year.

Why do you fancy Balthazar King ?

well BK is coming off a brilliant win from cheltenham where he won the cross-country where a lot of those fences can be closely compared to aintree and the front 4 were miles clear of anything else , i would imagine the form to be pretty strong even those its a unique race , the ground is going to be perfect and the stable is bang in form . and 25/1 is a massive price for a horse with all those credentials . if he stays out of trouble i think he will run a very big race .

I backed him at Cheltenham, I really like him as a horse. Distance shouldn't be a problem nor his jumping. I just think he may be a bit slow but I fancy him to get round.

I backed BK at Cheltenham as well. I think it is quite a hard race to come good from three weeks later and it would be an amazing training feat. He only just put away a 129 rated horse on the line so I think he will need to find a stone to be on terms with the better horses but he is not the worst each way shout if you can get 33s.

It will probably be Tidal Bay for me. His mark of 161 is an absolute giveaway if he is fresh. I think T43 might have been better with one 'prep' race rather than two and I would need a bigger price to back him. There on Thursday and Saturday.

My wife has T43 in her work sweep :D

I had an absolute stinker yesterday, not even a place. However, I feel robbed on two counts.

    1. McCoys ride on Diakali was very disappointing. There was no pace on the race on the first circuit and I think him being rode easily 10 lengths off it was not needed. Had he kept much closer order I think he may have taken advantage of a clear off day from the New One and Rock On Ruby gassing out a bit round the home turn.

    2. My mum gave me money to place at the bookies, and after Uxiandre had been available on course all along at 4/1 generally and no shorter than 7-2, he returned an astonishingly shite SP of 11/4. I know the answer is "take the price" but I think that was an outrageous shaving of at least half a point there to protect the industry. The Betfair SP was well in excess of 3/1.

I also dont know where they got 4/9 for the New One after he won when on course you were generally getting 1/3 and 4/11. We really do need to see transparently in my view how these SPs are arrived at because I think two winners have been wholly manipulated there. I wanted 1/2 for the latter but not only did it not come it never even came close to drifting that far on course.

My only bet a year, so put £1 each way on (big spender right??) usually do okay.

I have narrowed down 4 horses, undecided on the other one:-

    Moonbeg Dude
    Teaforthree
    Double Seven
    The Rainbow Hunter

    Big Shu?
    Prineau De Re?

I was thinking of betting on Mike Tyndall's horse. I can't remember the name though. I'll have a look tonight and then pop down the bookies tomorrow and place a bet. It'll only be a couple of quid.

Why those 3 ? I am intrigued to know why people pick their selections, see the reasoning etc

Do we all need to provide a pundits view? I have given my reasoning and if people want to just do a pinstickers thing for fun then why not.

That is the way both my mum and husband choose a horse by closing their eyes and putting a pin in the paper while I intend to go with the favourite but saying that there is no guarantee it will ever win.

Looking at Long Run and Double 7 at the minute.

I am usually the opposite, I tend to oppose the favourite but this year I really strongly fancy the favourite to win ( as I state above ) so Teaforthree for me.

Long Run- its his 9th birthday tomorrow, plus the jockey has his deceased brothers' name stitched onto his saddle. Just have a feeling it could be.

Mountainous- admire Jamie Moore as a jockey.

Alvarado- likes a marathon trip, i like the name too :-D
