God bless you and both their families always!!!

Seriously, religious songs like that have no mystery about them.
If you want to be challenged spiritually try Van Morrison's 'In the Garden'.

especially when you think of the background to the song
Yes absolutely
"Atmosphere' by Joy Division. http://youtu.be/81LpJPXo_qs
beth orton - she cries your name
steeleye span - all things are quite silent
fairport convention - who knows where the time goes
urgh.... not my idea of haunting or beautiful. sorry, but songs dont get much worse then those.
Alan Stivell - She Moved Through the Fair
Sometimes a hauntingly beautiful song needs no words...
Mile Davis - Concierto de Aranjuez
Sandy Denny - All Our Days
10CC - I'm Not In Love

Brian Eno - Everything Merges With The Night
Mazzy Star - Fade Into You
Blondie - Shayla
This Mortal Coil - Another Day (version of a Roy Harper song)
Marissa Nadler - I've Got Your Name
Martina Topley Bird - Anything
Rain Tree Crow - Every Colour You Are (David Sylvian)
Sol Seppy - Enter One
This would be on my list - stunning. Saw Peter Hook last year doing Low Life and Brotherhood, with a short Joy Division set as well - was great to hear it live after all these years.
The two I always mention for this one are:
This Mortal Coil's cover of Song to the Siren
Kate Bush - This Woman's Work
kate bush - army dreamers
cilla black - ive been wrong before
I love "Army Dreamers". Another hauntingly beautiful song from Kate Bush is "The Man With The Child In His Eyes".
I'm not a fan of Cilla Black as a singer (and even less so as a TV presenter), but I have to agree with you about her exceptional version of Randy Newman's "I've Been Wrong Before". One of only a handful of tracks that actually make my spine tingle.

Also, i think that The Tallis Scholars singing Allegri's Miserere is beautiful too; i don't understand the words of it, but the singing just draws me into the tune:

Mahler famously worried that people would go home and shoot themselves after listening to it !

If you're going to take it on make a cup of tea as it lasts half an hour
Each to their own.
Excellent track ^^ , but hauntingly beautiful? An ironic post ^^ presumably.
No irony with the three tracks that follow, all undoubtedly hauntingly beautiful:-
Tim Hardin - How Can We Hang On To A Dream

The Beach Boys - God Only Knows

Secret Garden - Nocturne

One of my most beautiful, YouTube doesn't do justice to how this sounds on CD with a proper pair of headphones.
Me and Little Andy
This makes a lot of people cry, not me though, honest.
