Highlights
PS3 - Anything by Naughty Dog
Xbox 360 - Alan Wake
Wii -...
Nintendo DS - Professor Layton/ Phoenix Wright (It's a tie)
PSP - Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
Overall: Uncharted trilogy
PS3, especially the launch model is my favorite console of all time because it offered the ability to play PS1/2 and 3 games, and it will take some beating
The Assassins Creed Series
The Ratchet and Clank Series
The Uncharted Trilogy
Batman: The Arkham Series
Red Dead Redemption
The Last of Us
For me the stand-out title of this generation was Red Dead Redemption. Grand Theft Auto was largely absent from this generation (with a solid if unremarkable fourth game early on) but Rockstar gave me something I ended up liking even more. I will honestly keep my PS3 around to play this long after the PS4 is available, and I can only hope for a disc-port or cloud-availability in future.
Ratchet and Clank offered Tools of Destruction, Quest for Booty and A Crack in Time. The series is a bit more story-based than it was on PS2, a bit less techno. It's been enjoyable all the same, and is so far the only game series I've included in more than one generation. With Jak and Daxter rested/ended and Spyro busy being a Skylander or whatever, it pretty much dominated the platformer scene which was quite weak in this generation.
Assassin's Creed and Uncharted offered an array of strong games. I particularly enjoy the former for its inclusion of historical events - I genuinely learn from these games and it'll be interesting to see if they can keep it alive in the next-gen. The two Italy-based games have been the best so far.
Batman and The Last of Us are also very good too... very different games, but all immensely enjoyable with great story-lead plotlines.
Uncharted 2 (though I love them all)
The Last of Us (possibly my game of the whole generation)
Red Dead Redemption
Assassins Creed 2
Journey
Beyonetta (cause its just bonkers)
Enslaved (it has many problems but I just love that game, also has a great soundtrack)
Valkyria Chronicles (possibly the hardest game I have ever completed)
PS3 -
God Of War 3
Uncharted 2
The Last Of Us
Metal Gear Solid 4
Infamous 2
Dead Space 2
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Journey
Flower
Portal 2
Bioshock
Assassin's Creed 2
Battlefield: Bad Company (for the campaign)
Battlefield 3 (for the multiplayer)
PC -
Portal
Crysis
Vita -
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Guacamelee!

Both my Sixaxis controller developed faults so it was certainly cheap. Both my DS3 controllers which are treated the same way are still going strong and do feel like they have a better build quality.
I had a PS3 for ages and played the odd game, wondered what all the fuss was about when MW2 came out and decided to get it. Been hooked ever since, going back and playing WAW what a pleasure that must have been when it first came out.

Just curious, is it the single player or the online mode that has you hooked?
before i met my fiance i didn't really game but he's got me into them , im crap at it though but its still fun. some games Ive just watched him play but i like them - bioshock infinite , far cry 3. myself i love skyrim but Ive had to dip in and out because i get really bad motion sickness after an hour or so , final fantasy 13 as well but the best for me is Alice: Madness returns , its my favorite of the bunch but i enjoy them all. i think sandbox games are the best in general , really fun. i also play ds games , Ive got into the professor Layton games recently. we also have a Wii and i like Mario kart and Mario party. i know its a rarity to find girls who game or even rarer ones that tolerate there boyfriends, fiance's or husbands playing them
Portal and Portal 2, Borderlands 1 & 2 and head and shoulders above all else - the game that I thought constantly about even when I wasn't playing - Far Cry 2. I couldn't care less that apparently no one else fully understood / rated it, but to me it's been the single stand out of the whole generation. Shame FC3 came nowhere near to living up to it, enjoyable though it was.
I never understood the hate for FC2 either. Okay, not a perfect game, but how many are?
I would say, however that FC3 was better. Even with the removal of degrading weaponry and the inclusion of too many QTEs and a whiny and annoying main character.
Mario galaxy 1 and 2
Gears of war series
Bayonetta
Fallout 3
Assassins creed 2
Mass Effect
Yakuza 4
Demon and dark souls ( no mention yet, seriously! )
Call of duty 4 online
Metroid prime 3
My gaming highlights from this generation would be getting 100,000 kills in Modern Warfare 2 and at one point being in the top 60 in the world for Geometry Wars.
Comments
I hated how light and cheap the controllers felt.
