**As the UK will be on BST (British Summer Time), we will change our clocks at 2 am on Sunday 31 October.

You're obviously not the jet-setter, IG is.:D
t'is a pain in the ass though... why cant we sync..? silly stubborn septics refusing to fall in line!!!
Try Arizona or Hawaii.
Not really. It's just a place like any other, but you'd never know it after reading some of these threads.
I will change mine when I get up in the morning thank you very much.
Glad you reminded me though I had totally forgot and would of missed all the reminders in the papers and news.
Just means it'll start getting dark at 5pm.
I'm in the far north.
I change all the clocks before I go to bed.

^This.
My memory is crap.
so am I - probably because we will get better weather. This summer has been crap again.
an extra hour in bed happy days!
Yes but it's Sunday morning you will get the extra hour in bed.
We won't because we have to kowtow to the 8% of people of this country who live in Scotland who don't want it.
There's also the spurious farmers' argument that there'll be one less hour of sunlight for their animals - no there bloody won't be - if someone could add or remove an actual hour of daylight it would be impressive.
Thinking about it because we don't have a Government that is as dependent on the Scots as the previous one they should be able to get such a change through.
It's daylight when the schools start and when they finish all year round
Wasn't there a bst trial in the 70s or something which failed?
You are assuming everybody in the rest of the UK takes your stand - they don't. Were you around during the BST experiment in the late 60s? I was, and it was hated, that's why it never became permanent.
Americans are more sensible - they also put their clocks forward in early March not late March like us. I always find it crazy in the UK in March we have daylight at 6am (when no one is up) but darkness at 6pm (when everyone is commuting).
I realise to keep the Scots happy we have to put the clocks back - I just wish we could shorten the period we are on GMT by 1 month (as per the US).
PS The one bonus this year is that the clocks go back on the latest possible date - 31 Oct - so we keep light evenings for a week longer than last year.
We change our clocks along with the rest of the EU and would continue to do so under the proposal being put forward. We would just be an hour ahead of where we are now, meaning millions more people having to get up in the dark in winter and quite a number of them having to go to bed in broad daylight in the summer.
