new iPod Classic (160GB) whirring noise

I just got a new iPod Classic (160GB). Since I have had it, it has been making a strange whirring noise intermittently and I was wondering if anyone knows if that's normal? My old 120gb didn't seem to do this. Is doesn't seem to affect play at all but Im worried as the last ipod died of a hard drive problem.

    Is it only when selecting a new song thats not in a playlist etc? (they've got a tiny buffer i think)
    My 80GB was pretty noisy, could just be a new HD manufacturer/Model.

    it seems to make the noise when a track is selected.
