  Funnily enough, Mike Score of A Flock of Seagulls was the first bloke that came to mind. There was some fantastic quirky styles in the early 80's. Phil Oakey's short on one side and long on the other, Adam Ant with his braids (http://theredradio.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/2008/04/10/adamant.jpg) and Limahl of Kajagoogoo to name a few.
